I would like to know the publisher, edition, and page number where that misinformation of the plague was contained. Interestingly, the Catholic Church was afraid of cats in the medieval ages because they thought they were witches. Cats may have helped not spread the plague had they not been killed. You can find lots of information on cats and the plague by doing a google search but here is one:
