Glaxo Tdap gets FDA approval for adults

INQUIRER STAFF

GlaxoKline said today that the Food and Drug Administration has

approved its vaccine Boostrix for tetanus, diphtheria and whooping

cough for adults.

The Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis) vaccine is approved for

those age 10 to 64, which Glaxo said was the broadest age range for

any Tdap vaccine.

Boostrix already had been approved as a booster for preteens and

teens. Since 2005, more than 7.5 million doses of it have been

distributed in the United States to protect adolescents from whooping

cough.

London-based Glaxo has a large U.S. presence in Philadelphia and in

Research Triangle Park, N.C.

Company shares were poised to open this morning at $35.81 on the New

York Stock Exchange.

The listed ingredients don't " claim " that it contains mercury, but

there's plenty of other sludge in it.

Hmm - who thinks we might start seeing more adult regression happen? Only one case that I'm aware of. Might that get someone's attention? (Maybe the 1 in a billion chance of 5 adults all regressing into autism immediately after a flu jab at Wal-mart.. Within about two weeks of each other.. That would get attention I think.)> Glaxo Tdap gets FDA approval for adults___

There are some medical conditions which make people ineligible to join

the armed forces which could potentially come up as susceptibilities

not so far seen among the cases of Gulf War syndrome and the vaccine-

injured members of the military. This could show up as more shots are

approved for adults.
