Why is this just about thimersol? Why does this not include ether, aluminum, formaldehyde? Many people still don't get that they should not be cooking in aluminum so I can forgive that maybe, but to not associate a known carcinogen like formaldehyde with a list of vaccine toxins??????? I hope we don't have to wait ten years for these other toxins to even consider being removed. In my book, aluminum HAS already been implicated in neurological disorders.Rox From: Iowans for informed

PM Hello Everyone! We just wanted to let you know that the meeting with

Harkin went incredibly well, from all that we can tell. He was not

aware that Mercury was still in vaccines, and he kept saying

"What? You've gotta be kidding?" to the various pieces

of information presented to him. There was a Mercury researcher there

from Wisconsin who just

blew Harkin away. He told him that the amount of Mercury in a flu shot

is 250 times more toxic than what is considered toxic waste. He also

said that no one is monitoring these shots, so sometimes there is much more

than they state in the vaccines. When we told him that our own department of Health stated

that Mercury was not only not toxic, but that it was healthy for you he said

"What? I want a transcript of that meeting! Even I know that

mercury is bad!" I have to tell you it was a sight to

behold. :0) The meeting was suppose to be just 30-45 minutes and he

stayed with us for 2 hours! 2 hours! Wow! We all felt

honored and humbled by him giving us so much time. He took copious

notes and asked us what we would like for him to do. We told him Senate

hearings on the whole vaccine issue and a ban on Thimerosal

nationwide. He said he would put a staff person on it, and although he

is working on Obama's health bill right now, he would be willing to

begin Senate hearings on this issue sometime in Feb/March/April depending

on how the schedule works out. Lujene from www.nomercury

was there as well and volunteered to be a volunteer staff person and organize

these hearings. We hope he will take her up on it as she is one

incredible woman. We hope that with this meeting, if there is any language

in Obama's new bill that pertains to vaccines, that he will have our meeting

foremost in his mind. We know you are all busy with Christmas goings on, but

were hoping that you would take the time to send Senator Harkin a Christmas

card with your family picture and just a note telling him "Thank you for

working on a ban of Thimerosal in vaccines," or something of that

nature. No ranting about how bad all vaccines are, or any of that, just a

simple thank you for looking into the issue and if you have a vaccine

injured child, maybe a short paragraph about your family story. (

I know short is not easy!) :0) And we would sure love to get support from any other

Senators or Congressmen/ women out there. If you have any contacts, or

know someone who knows someone, please let us know. Senator Tom Harkin's address is: Des Moines

210 Walnut Street

Room 733, Federal Building

Des Moines, IA 50309

(515)284-4574 Phone

(515)284-4937 Fax These cards and letters

DO make a difference. If we could get national legislation passed, we

would not have to work on state legislation, but we'll do both right now to

try to cover all bases. 35,000 children are born in Iowa every year, and over 2 million in the US. This is an issue that affects every American. Thank you all for your

incredible support and prayers! Sonya Swan www.iowansforinform edconsent. org

Yes, real cards and letters made up of fiber and ink with postage

stamps, or even phone calls and faxes do make a difference. This is

an example of a political tactic that goes outside the weightless

symbolic bubbles of cyberspace blog/group comments, online petitions

and polls, and does something concrete. Substance over symbolism will

win the day.

If you want to make an serious effort to political change in 2009,

commit to doing at least one political action alert a month. They will

require that you send a letter, or a fax, make a phone call, or even

show up at a rally or hearing, or even call on your political

representatives.

Important action alerts show up regularly on this list, on Age of

Autism and in the Schafer Autism Report, to name a few trustworthy

places to help you pick your battles.

I can't speak for or others behind this effort, but leading with

removing mercury, I think, is a good opening move. When you open this

door that vaccines are dirty, it can lead to revelations and awareness

about the other toxins included. Consider the legal removal of

mercury from vaccines as a strategy and not a goal. It makes more

sense to me that way, but I can't say for sure this is everyone else's

agenda. Here, it is about the environment of harm to the public, which

is not just about mercury.

Lenny,

The removal of mercury is only a small step towards improving the "safety" of vaccines, if this can indeed be done. My bucket overflowed, so to speak, when I realized that vaccines are not evaluated for the potential to CAUSE CARCINOGENICITY, GENOTOXICITY, MUTAGENICITY, and often potential to IMPAIR FERTILITY. The buck stops HERE! Why should I let any of my kids or other family members be injected with vaccines whose long term safety is not known, especially at a time when various cancers are on the rise?

It seems crazy to read articles about "autism" perhaps being a "genetic" disorder, when all of the vaccines we have received, have NOT been evaluated for the potential to cause genotoxicity and mutagenicity. There have been some hints of SPORADIC MUTATIONS as being a cause of "autism". Well, DUH!! Environmental factors can exert epigenetic effects which can alter gene expression.

I believe, that the collective lot of us here could solve this riddle, or at least go a long way towards solving it, if we put our heads to it. Many of us are aware of individual pieces of the puzzle: we now need to maneuver them into place. I am hoping that 2009 will be a good year for all of us!

,

I just went to Senator Harkin's web site and there is a 20:42 video

there and at 15:32 into the video Senator Harkin says " we need school

nurses to come around to make sure children have all of there

vaccinations we don't do that anymore " .

They check vaccinations at my sons school ever year.

Did anyone talk about we are getting too many vaccinations too soon?

, you rock! Thanks for all you do!

An incremental approach to change will be the most successful. As

quickly as I would like to see it? No.

But, baby steps are what get the American people moving.

I've read several times that schools are rewarded $100 per fully

vaccinated kid and possibly less $$ for kids partially vaccinated,

but never was able to find much evidence to verify this. Do you have

a source for that info? I don't doubt that it's true - just can't

find much to substantiate it. I think it was Kerbob who posted about

this some time ago. Was it Phyllis Schlafly on the Eagle forum who

originally reported this, or maybe a report from the Idaho Observer

(proliberty.com)?

My child's OT who usually has to see kids in the school setting (she is on board with all of the vaccine stuff -- even attends many of the biomed conferences of Jim ) was told this by the principal of an elementary school. I verified this with a former school administrator. I don't know what source we could use to really verify this. I suppose somone at the national Dept. of Ed. Maybe I will ask the school nurse the next time I see her.Subject: Re: Senator Harkin says he will hold thimerosal-autism hearings in early 2009To:
