Guest guest
My husband,79, spent three weeks in the hospital as a result of diarrhea, dehydration, sepsis, resulting kidney problems, etc. They gave him a feeding tube with Optimental. That's now changed to something else. He has had two swallow tests and silently aspirates with delayed swallow reflex. Is his dyspaghia a result of his CMT? He has late-onset CMT with negative gene tests, probably Type 1. He has now spent three weeks in a skilled nursing facility. The sepsis is gone and his kidneys are working. He has critically low sodium, 125, and anemia. His sodium was low before he got sick. He keeps refusing food in the feeding tube until I bully him into taking it. He wants them to give him real food. He has gotten stronger with the physical therapy. How likely is his ability to swallow to improve? Is it CMT related? Elinor
