Guest guest
I believe this is why the quote " The first thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers " is deemed so important from Shakespear's Henry VI. Despite the popular image of the trade, it is in fact lawyers who have effected much of the positive social change that we have enjoyed in the Western World. They ain't all F Lee s and ny Cochranes...

They ain't all F Lee s and ny Cochranes... > That's true, and not because those guys are dead. Also, 14th century English law is not a whole lot like today's American legal system, I should think -- not that I would challenge the bard's poetic skill. Besides, it has been the greedy financiers and mortgage bankers who have siphoned billions off the GNP lately, not the legal profession. Lawyers haven't come close. At the least, one generally knows upfront the asking legal fees/costs going into any situation. It is not grafted, hidden or laundered compensation done on ghost margins or pyramid schemes. Successful lawyers live and die on their reputation for ethics as much as their skill at law. I think that goes for most professions, even doctors (wink). -Lenny
