Guest guest
Thanks Larry Geri : I am 64 years old, and letting go dates back to June 25, 1967 when LBJ (a great president who was very misunderstood)and Aleksei Kosygin who replaced(?) Nikita Khrushchev met at Glassboro State College Glassboro New Jersey. I was back from my first tour in Vietnam and was a participant in a Early Music camp in Long Pond, Massachusetts. The camp was held under the auspices of the Country Dance Society of New York. The CDS was formed to promote English country and dancing. After 5 days of dancing, I had the worse case of shin splints in North America. The only way of treating them was to soak my legs in Long Pond. On that Saturday, I was soaking my legs and started thinking of the well-advertised summit taking place that day. I realized that I was thinking these thoughts in one of the most peaceful places in the world, among people who annually come together to with the common interests of music and dance, while a few miles south, two of the most powerful men in the world were deciding my future and the future of the world. I realized that the only parts of the world I had any control over were dangling in the water trying to overcome painful shin splints. Why should I worry about meetings in Glassboro? I couldn't do anything about them. Letting go began then, and I have let go ever since. I control the few points in my life I can, and don't worry about the rest. All those things I could worry about will happen in their own time and over any angst I profess. The first line of the Serenity Prayer used by most 12-Step organizations is: God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. Cletus Purcell -- probably the most memorable character ever developed by my favorite male author Jame Lee Burke -- was speaking to Dave Robicheaux, the most alcohol-tormented character in literature. Clete tells Dave he uses the short form of the prayer, and Dave may find it easier to use. Dave asks what is the short form/ Clete answers, " F--k it. " When I read that, I had the V/8 moment and realized that is how I live, and that is how I cope. It is that simple, and I almost have it perfected after just 43 years/ Regards. --Larry
Guest guest
Thanks Caroline! No one's pushing anything on anybody and this topic is most certainly related to candidiasis. There's more to dealing with a chronic illness than just physical symptoms and mechanistic treatment. There's nothing in my first post ________________________________ From: Caroline Croon <carolinecroon@...> candidiasis Sent: Sat, September 11, 2010 9:28:00 AM Subject: Re: Re: letting go  well no one is forcing you to read this! I mean obviously needed to talk about this which is somehow related to candidas and I can't see where the problem is, just ignore the post if you don't like it! ________________________________ From: Kapesty <katesemken@...> candidiasis Sent: Sat, September 11, 2010 1:23:35 PM Subject: Re: letting go You know what...don't mean to offend you but this board is not a religious forum!...that's entirely up to you what you believe & I wouldn't seek to stop you from your beliefs but PLEASE, you & the person you answered, stop pushing your opinions on others & let's keep to topic on here. I'm more interested in reading & learning other peoples' experiences on how we improve our candida symptoms than listening to diatribes more fit to a Sunday at church! I'm quite sure there are other forums more suitable for that! Thanks! > > > > I wonder if anyone feels like commenting on their experience with " letting go > > > > and letting god. Guest guest
Hi Carolyn, Well I'm glad I sent that message by mistake! This is so interesting. My experience has been the same in many ways. What was is you feared, if not death? My brain is tapped out at the moment, but I will think about this more. Thanks! ________________________________ From: Carolyn <carolynmil@...> candidiasis Sent: Mon, October 4, 2010 1:35:14 PM Subject: Re: letting go  , So true! I am not sure why anyone would oppose taking an integrated approach to healing. It is impossible to cure (or diminish) any illness unless one looks at the states of Mind, Body and Spirit which enable the disorder. Personally, I know that Candida is an opportunistic organism. During the months of June, July and August I experienced several personal crisis: I lost a very dear friend to death; another friend (more like a sister) had some episodes that I thought were life-threatening. My young adult, grown son started leaning on me for emotional support. So, I just sort of hit a wall emotionally, and I know that the Candida seized the opportunity to affect an already compromised immune system. I have a physician who understands the connections between mind, body and spirit, and so she practices energy healing as well as working with the physical to achieve a decrease in the overall impact of Candida on my immune system. Long story to say: I had to start dissecting my relationships in order to start the journey toward health. I had to look at my fears of death (though, I finally realized it was not death that I feared at all). I also had to learn to create more balance within my body so that energy was more evenly consumed. These are the challenges I work with daily, and I know that I would not have made the progress if I had tried to look at Candida in isolation. Guest guest
well I do agree with you both. And I really think that a diet is not the only thing we need to change. Actually, I was talking to a therapist the other day, we talked about candidas and diet, because since I started the anti candidas diet with no grains, my binge eating crises came back violently and the diet actually made me worse because of that, so after one year on the diet and recurrent binge eating, I put on 7kg and my candidas are still there. We then talked about how I could do to find a balance between getting better and eating things I like and well she explained that she once had candidas and her doctor told her that stressing over the food u can eat or not makes the candida even worse and that in some cases it's best to eat a bit of what u like too and be in peace instead of being frustrated all the time. She tested grains were ok for me to have. Of course some people dont have a problem with eatng proteins and fats all day long for years, but I do and although it is fine for me to follow the diet for a few days, I need to have grains or legumes a few times a week. So I have decided to reintroduce grains in my diet, a bit of everything and I4ll see how it goes. I guess balance is the key! ________________________________ From: Carolyn <carolynmil@...> candidiasis Sent: Mon, October 4, 2010 8:35:14 PM Subject: Re: letting go , So true!
