I posted photographs from the Vaccine Roundtable sponsored by New York Assemblyman Marc Alessi held today. Doctors, parents and politicians spoke about vaccine safety, the autism-vaccine connection and vaccine exemptions. On “our†side was Barbara Loe Fisher, Gilmore, Dr. Larry Pavelsky and Louise Ho Kubakus. “Their†side had doctors from the AAP and NYS Health Department. You should all be very proud of Barbara, , Larry and Louise. They stood strong for the parents and children of the autism community.

--------------------------------------------------------

Amen to 's words....Barbara, , Larry and Louise deserve our gratitude for "standing strong for the parents and children of the autism community".

Unfortunately, the presentations given by Dr. Debra Blog, Medical Director, Immunization program, New York State Department of Health, and, A.A.P. representatives Dr. Louis Z. and Dr. Lee, were almost exact to the presentations given by New Jersey public health officials and representatives of the A.A.P. at Diedre Imus "forum" in Hackensack, New Jersey, a few months ago.

For future attendees of these types of "public forums", their strategies appear to be:

Completely ignore the numerous, legitimate questions and issues, raised by presentations of those representing the autism community.....instead....State public health officials will offer a "slide" presentation depicting the horrific images of children suffering advanced stages of communicable diseases, followed by a stern warning these communicable diseases are "preventable" only if vaccination rates remain high enough to maintain "herd immunity". To support their arguments, they will cite "statistics" that require close examination and immediate challenge....such as....:

Dr. Blog's statement of a "big outbreak of measles in Arizona", a state that has a philosophical exemption policy. When challenged by Louise to define "big", Dr. Blog was forced to admit she was referring to 26 cases in entire state.

Dr.Blog's statement there was a study in Denmark of "vaccinated vs. unvaccinated" populations which showed no evidence that children who were vaccinated suffered more autoimmune diseases than children who were not vaccinated. Apparently, state public health officials will continue to shamelessly cite population studies, even though the CDC readily admits many studies were flawed, and therefore, are useless.

Dr. Lee, AAP representative, stated "thimerosal is a moot issue" a "non-issue" at this point because its been removed from most vaccines. (This statement visibly agitated audience) Dr. Lee continued dismissal of thimerosal by patiently, condescendingly, explaining it is ethyl mercury, not the more toxic methyl mercury, found in fish.

Dr. Lee then proceeded to reassure audience that aluminum is found in "everything and everywhere"...its in breast milk and drinking water. The same can be said of formaldehyde, which is naturally produced by the body and should not be confused with the formaldehyde that is used to preserve dead bodies. Therefore, these substances are "safe" at the levels found in vaccines.

Dr. , AAP representative, reminded audience of the horrors he saw as a young physician treating children with polio, a disease he believed most in the audience are unfamiliar with because of the success of the polio vaccine. He showed slides depicting the "declining rates of communicable diseases" due to vaccines.

Dr. , just like AAP in New Jersey, cited instances were "mandates save lives of children", such as, "bike helmet and child seat laws". How many times are these people going to use these obviously flawed analogies as a pretense to "mandating" a "one size fits all vaccine"?

(If a few thousand parents strapped a "bike helmet" on their child's head and within moments, hours, days or weeks their perfectly healthy child suddenly began suffering inconsolable migraine headaches, dizziness, seizures and such....common sense suggests parents would stop strapping a bike helmet to their child's head.)

So, there you have it. You have to give them credit....they "stay on message" regardless of how little scientific merit that "message" has.

I do know it must be very hard for state public health officials and AAP representatives to accept an invitation to appear at these types of public forums. After all, I suspect it is extremely difficult to confront an audience of parents who did vaccinate their child and then "witnessed" that child's development suddenly "regress". Until these "experts" can explain why these children regressed, there is "no issue that is moot".Make your life easier with all your friends, email, and favorite sites in one place. Try it now.
