Guest guest
This may be a tad OT here, but is so not in the bigger picture. I do hope that Carole Clinch gets her points across and those who want water-fluoridation lose. Let's pray and hope that those who want to discontinue fluoridation win this battle/round!! It could lead to more of the same for the rest of us who want to get rid of water-fluoridation, as it truly is no good for any of us.AasaSubject: Radio Interview with CHML HamiltonTo: "Carole Clinch" Received: Tuesday, November 25, 2008, 9:54 PMAttached is a radio interview I did with CHML in Hamilton today, November 25 which followed a 5 minute interview with Dr. Levin (ODA).Decision will be made tomorrow night in Hamilton. Board of Health voted 6-6 to discontinue yesterday, November 24. Hamilton councillors email addresses. Please write now if you are able., , , , , , Carole Clinch Claims made by Dr. Mackie, M.D. False and Misleading statements to city council: Swallowing Fluoride NOT EFFECTIVE - Cover Story of the Journal of the American Dental Association (JADA), July 2000 & Yoder et al. 2007 JADA States reviews research demonstrating that it is the topical application of fluoride that is effective – not swallowing. Yoder et al 2007 survey revealed that 80-90% of dentists are not aware that the mechanism of fluoride's action is for topical use – applied directly to the tooth surface – not swallowed. US CDC website has information supporting water fluoridation but cites 5 studies which discuss how it works topically. This is scientific fraud. CAPE To suggest that the CAPE statement was not authentic was an attempt by Dr. Mackie to discredit us. This is an offensive form of attack on our credibility. The CAPE executive wrote today to affirm that they wrote this statement. Fluoride concentration levels have halved from 1.2ppm in 2000 to 0.6ppm in 2008 - halved in 8 short years. Dr. Mackie stated that it has only been reduced from 0.8ppm. REVIEWS Mackie coins a new word to describe the NRC 2006 and all other reviews that we cite - "selective reviews" which selectively eliminate all studies which do not agree with their position - whereas the PHS cites "systematic reviews" which look at all relevant studies. If Dr. Mackie is suggesting that the NRC 2006 Review on Fluorides in Drinking Water was a "selective review" which "cherry-picked" the data is simply false. This panel of 12 international experts reviewed 1,077 studies – the largest review of its kind. The Health Canada Panel was not an objective, unbiased panel. They reviewed 100 studies, omitting the entire body of research on fluoride-thyroid-iodine interactions. 3 members of the Health Canada Panel have recently published research demonstrating that artificial water fluoridation is NOT SAFE and NOT EFFECTIVE. 3 members of the Health Canada Panel are dentists with no medical expertise or toxicology expertise. All members of the Health Canada panel are known to promote and support artificial water fluoridation. Hydrofluorosilicic acid Hydrofluorosilicic acid is not purified as claimed by Dr. Mackie. It is unprocessed hazardous waste and a toxic substance (CEPA) - petition #221. Moderate Fluorosis is "rare" Halton Board of Health Report 2008 shows moderate fluorosis to be 10-11% Milton cavity statistics Diane Sprules was accused of being incorrect on this matter. Dr. Mackie is incorrect. Milton (only community in Halton Region which is NOT 100% fluoridated - 50% of Milton is fluoridated) as reported in the Halton Board of Health Report were considerably lower than fluoridated regions (Oakville, Burlington). Mackie states just the opposite - that Milton has the highest rate of cavities in Halton. Fluoride is ubiquitous Fluoride is in every food, every beverage. It is ubiquitous. The concern is that we are living in a sea of fluoride and cannot avoid over-dosing. It is in all source water at varying concentrations. Parents of young children could just purchase non-fluoridated water No one is inconvenienced and it only costs $10/month – affordable to everyone apparently? No one is harmed that cannot afford to purchase fluoridated water? Not one study was cited by his report nor did he mention a single study even by name. Toxicology Profession under attack Dr. Mackie stated that toxicology studies are irrelevant and useless because they use fluoride levels far higher than we consume. Dr. Mackie either does not understand the field of toxicology or is willfully misrepresenting this profession.
