Guest guest
Lenny posts: Autism was breaking news primarily because of LITIGATION.Litigation through the courts, even the bizzarro vaccine courts hasbeen and will be the leading edge sharp knife that finally cuts openthe truth. Why? because the government, public health, executivebranch agencies are far too conflicted and biased to renderinconvenient truth. The courts system, while often a sloppy venue, isfar less biased and bought off. Lenny ps. Who are the autism heroes of 2008 and 2009? Lawyers. And that'sno lawyer joke. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I would respectfully disagree that "litigation" was the "primary" reason that autism was listed second on a list of "Top Health Stories of 2008 According to CNN". In my humble opinion, news items reporting successful "litigation" were sparse at best...and....it was "autism awareness", "research papers", "autism rallies, blogs, etc" and "legislation" that kept autism in the "news" throughout the year. Indeed, without these varied sources, litigation successes would be limited to a day or two media coverage. So, recognizing the hard earned success of lawyers... my heroes of 2008 are the same heroes of years past, Dr. Wakefield, Kirby, Dan Olmsted, McCarthy, the Griers, local state autism activists who promoted legislation that helps families in their home states...and...all those selfless, courageous souls who have been waging war for years to win the "hearts and minds" of ordinary people in the court of public opinion. God bless them....one and all. One site keeps you connected to all your email: AOL Mail, Gmail, and Yahoo Mail. Try it now.
Guest guest
Bob, You severed your reply from the rest of the original thread, which started out with this comment from CNN: " Debate over the causes of autism continued to rage after a court decided to compensate a family whose daughter developed the disorder after receiving childhood vaccinations. " It was the Hana Polings case which was the primary news item about autism in 2008. Everything else about autism this year was much smaller potatoes.
