Guest guest
Hi Auggie, I've never tried the pulsed magnetic therapy myself. Back in the 1980s when magnet therapy really took off, I did try the " static magnetic therapy " , which is simply magnets inside things like a back brace and shoe inserts. I didn't notice any difference for myself with the static therapy, but this newer technology is supposed to be slightly better. Since I haven't tried it, I have no personal recommendations for you. However, there are many devices available online. There are devices that are a pad that you use once or twice a day. Here's an example: http://www.emersonww.com/QRS_electromagnetic.htm There are devices that are much smaller and you sleep with it in your own mattress: http://www.earthpulse.net/ If you are going to try one, I'd recommend getting something that has a full money back guarantee, so you can return it if it doesn't work for you. Even though some research studies have been positive, the effects are usually minor and temporary. Some people swear by magnetic therapy and I'm not doubting that, I'm just suggesting you protect yourself with a money back guarantee in case it doesn't work for you. You may also want to discuss it with your doctor. One of my concerns is whether or not there is an increased risk of getting cancer with these devices. The makers of these devices say that there isn't an increased risk, since the magnetic field is so low it's more like the human body and not nearly as high as other devices such as microwaves, cell phones, power lines, etc. But, if someone is going to spend hours a day lying it, is there any risk? Perhaps not, but you may want to just clear it with your doctor first. JMHO. If you do decide to give it a try, please share your results with the group.
