Take ownership of your health - was Re: Re: CFS

My own journey into taking self-ownership for our health began in earnest in

March 2008 when I was given ground shattering news by a team of

cardiologists including " your husband's next step is a heart transplant " to

" you don't understand, this is an issue of life and death " to " you're taking

him home to die " to " he'll be death within 2 weeks, most likely a matter of

days " all within a 10 day period of time during which he was hospitalized

twice, twice sent to the ICU, underwent at least 3 invasive heart procedures

and was, in my opinion, caused to experience death not only unnecessarily

but was more than reasonably preventable while he was in their care. Those

10 days were very traumatic for us (which included his temporary death and

resuscitation while we were engendered to rely upon the care of medical

professionals at a St. Louis area metropolitan hospital) and led to a path

of taking ownership of our health after too many years of naively entrusting

" medical professionals " to give us the guidance we relied upon them to

provide.

It's important to understand the underlying problem and get it addressed,

yet at times some of the underlying problems may be benefitted at least

temporarily by other means. Of course, always check with your healthcare

provider....

I found a traditional Chinese practitioner to be very helpful. Our TCM

practitioner examines the tongue as well as taking the 6 pulses (3 pulse

points in each wrist), I really believe she's better at figuring out what is

*really* needed to enhance our health with these non-invasive techniques

over expensive medical tests. We also get routine blood labs drawn and study

the results ourselves.. for someone who doesn't have insurance, the labs can

sometimes be ordered much less expensively and often do not require a

doctor's orders through companies such as HealthCheck USA

http://www.healthcheckusa.com Chronically low levels of Vitamin D and

Magnesium as well as Iodine is very prevalent in much of our modern

society... yet many doctors frequently do not order these labs... Do your

homework on the Vitamin D test results since some labs such as Quest have

been noted for showing a consistantly higher result that other labs using

different tests for Vitamin D. There's more information on this concern

through the Vitamin D Council. http://www.vitamindcouncil.org/

For the blood pressure concerns and concerns with lack of energy / vitality

at the cellular level, check into Dr. Sinatra, M.D.'s protocols as

published in the book Sinatra Solution and somewhat discussed in Reverse

Heart Disease Now (not just reverse, but to prevent...) If you need help

looking for the supplements, check around Amazon and Lucky Vitamin, besides

nutrition stores. When you read up on the " awesome foursome " keep in mind

that d-ribose is used to make ATP... ATP is known by many researchers to be

the same concept as CHI / QI in asian culture... I get the d-ribose powder

from Nutrabulk directly, but I wrote a review on Amazon on the 1 kilogram

size of d-ribose powder from Nutrabulk that you may want to read. Also check

into the plant known as red root sage aka dan shen and is in the product

called Cardioshen (available from luckyvitamin.com), it may be beneficial

for circulatory concerns ranging from the heart to vessels to menses, etc.

Lui wei di huang wan is another tonic from TCM that may be beneficial to

some...

Something else to keep in mind when consulting with your health care

provider since flu vaccine availability and distribution may be a concern:

(hint: we have absolutely no plans to ever get vaccinated against *anything*

ever again...)

Always check with your healthcare provider. We studied the metabolic

cardiology info as well as info on nutrition and herbology, then took our

findings to our healthcare provider (new one, we fired ALL of our previous

medical practioners after our traumatic experiences) who became aware and

knowledgeable of our use of certain supplements due to my husband taking

certain prescriptions... and of course what works for one may not work for

others due to each person responding differently.

Generally as we began our journey into self-ownership of our bodies, we

found these websites and books by these doctors to be beneficial for us:

Websites:

www.naturalnews.com

www.mercola.com (Dr. Mercola, M.D.)

Books authored by:

Dr. Sinatra, M.D. (primarily Sinatra Solution helped us, though skim

his other works)

Dr. Deepak Chopra, M.D. - any and ALL books I would highly recommend

Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, M.D. (former chief of staff (I believe that was his

title) at Cleveland Clinic)

Dr. Gerber, M.D. (Vibrational Medicine)

Luke Seaward (Stress Management, should be renamed to " Human Body

Owner's Tuneup Manual " )

After 18 months of in depth searching, I found the above websites and

authors to be a good starting point for becoming self-educated with regards

to health... and needless to say, my husband is much healthier now. He has

not only remained among the living, but he's returned to work full-time and

living a near-normal healthy quality of life - something we were led to

believe would be impossible by the local medical community.

Personally, we found we are healthiest when we focus more on an organically

and locally grown plant based diet with minimal meat and do our best to

avoid ALL food chemicals including High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS),

artificial sweeteners, brominated vegetable oil (BVO - banned in over 100

countries but commonly found in many US soft drinks), artificial colors,

genetically modified organisms (GMO), chemical additives and preservatives,

etc. We also try to avoid these chemicals in our skincare and personal

hygeine products as well. We try to live by the motto " if you can't eat it

then it doesn't belong on your skin, either " .

Best wishes on your journey to reclaim health,

Jeri
