Guest guest
Bonnie, do you know how to use the group message search feature. If not, let me know and I can help but if so, you can do a search for posts about this by May, who is excellent source of info on a/c units. Try putting 'Webb' and air conditioner into search. He recommends a adding a Webb filter to a/c units. Start with a new one and add a filter to it, to the air intake side right from the start to keep it from getting dirty in the first place. The Webb is a filter you can wash and put back in. I bought some Filtrete fabric at Home Depot and taped it over the intake of an air conditioner. I did see some a/c unit out there last summer that advertised a better filter so they may be making units with better filter now but they are hard to find. Overall the a/c industry doesn't seem to make it a priority but you can add one yourself. Make sure unit is tilted correctly and check that periodically to make sure it doesn't 'wiggle itself' into a different position, and also that it is draining properly. All these things are important to keep it free from mold. You need a MERV 8 or higher. There was a huge conversation about a/c's last July. Look at message 62947 and the big chain of response. That isn't the beginning of discussion so you can read in both directions. > > Ok, it's getting hot in here... I'm thinking it's soon going to be time to get new ac window unit for my room... I need suggestions on how to select the best unit to suit my needs... My room is very small probably 8' x 10' at best... Are there window units that use the merv filters? > > Again any feed back will be helpful > > Bonnie
Guest guest
Correction, 'WEB' filter, not WEBB: http://www.webproducts.com/Categories.bok?category=Air+Conditioner+Filters You can cut them to size. Of course you may be able to find an a/c with good filter. Of course look and see first if you can find one that comes fitted for good filter. I didn't see one last summer. <barb1283@...> wrote: > > Bonnie, do you know how to use the group message search feature.
