Guest guest
<<What's the common perception among the DS & Autism community about vitamin supplementation? Have your pediatricians recommended using nutritional supplementation to enhance growth, prevent illness, aid with bowel problems etc.? Have pediatricians discouraged it? >> Hi ~~~ None of my son's pediatricians (5 over 17 yrs) have ever recommended supplements just for the DS/autism. I started my son on a Centrum tablet when he was able to swallow pills because he ate only a few food items. When my DH was put on flax seed oil and fish oil, I put Gareth on them, too.....he was @ 12 y/o....figuring it wouldn't hurt any. He's been taking a Lactaid pill for the past five yrs. due to Lactose intolerance. When he started that, I started him on Acidophilus pills in the am and pm. I have to see documentation from legitimate sources (Doctors/AMA) before I will try anything that is questionable. Margaret
