Hi Jayne,

I pray for 72. I go out next month for my first event and many times it's in

the low 20's and the only heat we have is from the cooking grill. I literally

have 5 layers of clothes on and can barely move. I have one cup of coffee before

I leave and drink nothing else until my day is over. You get the picture. I

dread the day but good winter events are far and few between in the northeast.

My dh doesn't drag anything by hand. We have bobcats, loaders etc. He would like

me to think he works hard, he,he.

Hey Charlyne,

No, I didn't think he built the stove itself, but I thought he rigged a regular

wood stove to somehow run through the water pipes, etc... sounds complicated to

me! LOL

Oil is just outrageous, as is natural gas (our heat), and every other heating

source too I guess. Life is just so expensive right now.

I'm glad you have those natural " downed " trees to use in the woodstove. Great

exercise hauling 'em too!

I hope it pans out for and keeps the oil heat bill low.

Glad you survived the drive to school - FYI: It's going to be 72 here today!

WHERE'S MY WINTER?????

Someone build a snowman for me!

Take care,

Jayne

Hi Jayne,

My dh didn't build the stove. He is very handy but we bought it. I had no idea

at the time it would be such an expense and big ordeal to get it up and running.

It works perfectly. We have 15 acres of woodland so he just drags the downed

trees to cut up for this stove. The woods need cleaning anyway. I have oil

basedboard heating. The stove has water coils that run through it that is

circulated to the furnace. It's quite a contraption and but cost plenty. We did

have school on Monday, not even a delay. The roads were terrible taking Zeb to

school in the am but cleared nicely by noon. We did get about 20 " of snow

setting a record for the most snowfall recorded in one day.

Charlyne,

You're husband sounds like quite the inventor! How do you think he faired during

your snowstorm? Is it working? With the price of oil, I'm sure he's not alone in

trying to find alternative heating!

My inlaws heat their home with only a wood stove! Lots of chopping, stacking,

and hauling - especially in Maine.

Did you end up having school? I'm so sad we haven't had any snow. We were teased

with some falling but it never stuck.

I'm holding out hope for this weekend, we've got a 30% chance!

Take care,

Jayne

Hi Jayne,

I have plenty of snow to share. We are at 15 " + and it's coming down fast and

heavy. My dh had this great idea of putting in an outdoor woodstove that heats

the house through water pipes connected to the outdoor stove to the house via

the furnace. I didn't want it to begin with but I am certainly having pleasure

watching him make his way out to the yard to get to this stove to load the

wood,he,he. If the oil prices continue to climb I may see a return in about 5

yrs. I doubt we will have school tomorrow.

If I didn't look so pitiful he probably would have been thinking differently.

But after throwing up for 5 hours, I don't think it was an attractive situation

for him! LOL!

Men!

I guess we had our bit of snow, at 7:30am we had some flakes coming down, now

it's just barely visible but nothing is sticking! I wish we'd get some REAL

snow!

Thanks Donna,

Jayne

Jayne, you're really lucky you didn't get hurt worse!!! How scary!!!!

I'm glad you are better.
