Guest guest
Hi Deb, I will keep you in my prayers. I had a total hip replacement in June and I am doing very well. I was extremely apprehensive before the operation. I wear braces (helios) and was concerned that recovery would be that much harder just sort of logistically...how would it work with the physical therapists when I first began walking etc. Turns out I worried needlessly. The PTs were very capable and showed me exactly what to do. I was on my feet the day after the operation and by the 3rd day I was cruising the hospital with my walker. I used a walker for 3 weeks and walked around my neighborhood increasing the distance daily. After that I stopped using the walker and I was fine, not to mention pain free for the first time in a year and a half (my Dr. said my hip was virtually bone on bone). I went back to work on week six and I continue to work out on the treadmill and in the pool. All this is not to say that I didn't have any issues. I did have pain immediately after the operation but standard pain meds worked well and the pain was really from the incision, I believe. Literally after the 2nd week I had no pain. Before that I had pain day and night, sitting, standing and lying down. After the operation my grandson told me I didn't have a " mad face " anymore. I hope all goes well for you and that you have a quick recovery. Kim
Guest guest
Deb For me a hip replacement was a peace of cake compared to the pain I was in before I had it done. As I understand it knee and shoulder replacement is far more painful and a longer recovery too. Prayer going your way! You're going to be amazed! Guest guest
Hi Kim! I trully, truly thank you. Every one says I will feel so much better after the surgery. My doc. says he can even correct the leg length discrepancy wile he's at it. This will be the true magical. Now my only worries are rounding up rides to the hospital and other preparations like that. I already have some one to care for my two parakeets and elderly gerbil. It is good to hear from some one who as had it done.
