Guest guest
There is more than one way, so no need to think one way is right and the other is wrong. I believe the ammonia is relating more to denaturing mycotoxins than mold spores, although I feel sure ammonia would also kill mold spores. I use sodium bicarbonate in wash water with small amt of detergent and then ammonia in the 'bleach cycle', i.e. first rinse and then it goes through a final rinse. I am not MCS though. I think right product may be different for each MCS person. I have Borax on hand and use it when I'm out of sodium bicarbonate/baking soda. Vinegar is supposed to be good mold killer but I have never heard that it does anything to get rid of mycotoxins but if these are truly 'contaminated' things you are talking about, most people agree to throw out, is right way. If you are just doing the wash and have become sick from mold or toxins and want clothes to be especially cleaned of mold spores and toxins in particular, these should do the trick. I don't know anything about microban but many times there are commercial products that just cost more and don't do a better job than less costly alternatives like ammonia, sodium bicarbonate, borax, etc, but can't say that is the case regarding microban. I've seen paper filters advertised as treated with microban. > > I've talked to 5 maybe 6 people concerning how to go about moving and minimizing the risk of cross contamination. > > The Industrial Hygienist I hired and the Mold Remediator the HOA hired both said the best way to rid mold spores from clothes is Borax. Another Mold Remediater I spoke to sold me a 1 gallon bottle of Microban which I was just told not to use and someone else told me to use Ammonia. > > There were 2 indivduals who suggested I buy 2 different products but both were to expensive and I couldnt afford to buy them. > > Can someone please tell me what to use and not use. Im beginning to think the only way get better is to file bankruptcy and start all over from scratch but doing that wont solve the mold hypersensitivity Im currently experiencing. > >
