Guest guest
Cleaning and Maintenance News reported today that the EPA announced that chemical companies can no longer claim confidentiality. http://www.cmmonline.com/news.asp?N_ID=74029 The EPA notice in the Federal Registry begins about half way down the page at: http://www.regulations.gov/search/Regs/contentStreamer?objectI d=0900006480a80fe4 & disposition=attachment & contentType=pdf This is not applicable to ALL instances of ALL products, unfortunately. Last summer the fragrance industry was required to release chemicals used in fragrances. (I sent that list to several of you who requested it). Total industry useage was reported, not a break-out by product, and there were instances of trade secrets being reported. EPA administrator recently tesitified before Congress that they intend to fully enforce current law and regulations requiring disclosure of chemical information and calling for regulatory changes so they could more effectively and efficiently do so. Those of us affected (or concerned) by chemical exposure cannot take the personal responsibity manufacturers and the public demand of us if ingrediants are withheld. Today's action is another step in the direction of full disclosure. Carl Grimes Healthy Habitats LLC
