looking for rental in Arizona

Hi,

My rental in Sedona expires in early March. I am starting to look for a

new place, ideally month to month, starting in March in either the

Tuscan/Benson area, where my kid's doctor is located, or possibly

Prescott area, or some other relatively clean area. Sedona is beautiful

but pricey because it's a tourist town and I think they may spray

herbicides starting in the spring, and of course in the fall they do

controlled forest burns which really degrades the air quality.

Any suggestions about clean areas, specific rentals, rental agents or

other useful advice welcomed, my husband will come to Arizona in Feb.

and start the search, if we don't find something we will be stuck in a

motel somewhere eating junk take out and I really can't stand that for

very long so I need to get started on this.

I need a place with the following:

mold free

2+ bedrooms

tile floors

no chemicals/pesticides, etc.

high speed internet availability

cable or satellite availability

phone service

a/c

high school for my healthy kid

my toy poodle allowed

and ideally:

bug screens on doors and windows

1/2 hour max to organic grocery

1/2 hour max to hospital/E/R

not totally remote, need to have other houses around or my sick kid

would freak out

ideally month to month but would also consider 6 month lease with option

to extend

Thanks, Sue Vican

Hi Sue,

I'm new to the list and don't really have any info to help you. But my

husband and I are also looking to move back to AZ after he had fungal

pneumonia this summer. We previously lived in the Superstition foothills

area of Apache Junction, but research indicates the air quality is much

better in Tucson. Is that why you are looking there?

Thanks,

Kathy

Hi Kathy,

As long as we are looking for a new rental, it makes sense to look

closer to Benson (about 45 minutes southeast of Tuscan) because that's

where my kid's doctor, Gray, is located. Dr. Gray is telling us

that Sonoita has clean air, but someone else told me it is basically

just a wide spot in the road, there is a small EI community there.

Good luck in your search, feel free to check in with me, and vice versa

about what you discover. sue

I have never heard of Sonorita. What is it near?

Sam, we are looking at Casa Grande but according to Sperlings site the air

quality is much better in Tucson and surrounding areas. All the greater

Phoenix areas seem to be rated really bad, 1 out of 100. The Tucson area is

in the 80's. And Lake Havasu City is the best I've found, close to 100!

Thanks,

Kathy

Sperlings Best Places gives info on towns and cities. I'd be interested in

other such sites if anyone knows them.

before you move there. D
