Guest guest
I'm doing 2, the Albuterol helps alot with the airway restriction. but I'm haveing problems with the Cromolyn,a mast cell stabilizer used to prevent asthma attacks. only used it once sofar, after Albuterol treatment and it caused the effects from the Albuteral to tottaly go away plus even more felling of lung restiction and just felt bad in other ways, a little more off balance and just ill effects. I dont know weither to try it again, before the Albuteral treament or to just not do those treatments. my guts just telling me to not do them. maybe it's something about generic brand,? also thought it might affect me different if I used it while actually haveing a asthma attack, but other than re-exposures and a exercize induced asthma type attack, that the Albuteral is listed as also helpful for, I just dont know if I need the Cromolyn on a regular basis. is this a fell worse to fell better reaction or I'm I haveing some type of problem with the Cromolyn itself? my airways obviously deal with some level of restriction on a pretty regular bases maybe just from breathing air and prior damage, inflammatory responce disease. other than that they become severely restricted with re-exposures. Guest guest
Chromolyn ( Cromoglicic acid) is a plant derived compound. It is recommended for use for asthma caused by an allergic (IgE) response to antigens. I suggest that you read more about this chemical. It has other pharmacological actions besides must mast cell release of histamine. Albuterol is a bronchiole dilator. It is effective for all forms of bronchoconstriction (e.g. asthma, reactive airway disease). If you do not have allergic asthma I suggest that you talk with your doctor regarding the adverse reactions you are having. Reactive airway disease (RADS) is a response related to inflammation. Inflammation is not necessarily allergies. [] anyone doing nebulizer treatments? Guest guest
Skin testing does not necessarily mean you have an allergy. An immediate skin reaction suggests an allergy, however, delayed skin reaction shows probable hypersensitivity types II and IV. You can find a definition of Hypersensitivity Types I, II, III and IV by doing a google search. If you have normal ranges of IgE immunoglobulin, then you are most likely not atopic. Atopy, means high levels of IgE and the person is prone to Type I hypersensitivities. [] Re: anyone doing nebulizer treatments? Guest guest
My understanding is that the chromalyn sodium is kind of a s benign substitute for the steroids nebulizer, Dr. Gray told us that steroids are not good for someone with mold exposures as it can promote mold growth.... Neither the chromalyn sodium or the steroid inhalers/nebulizers would stop an asthma attack in progress, for the chromalyn sodium to be effective takes a month or so of regular use... My son is doing the chromalyn sodium 3X per day and has been since last Nov., doesn't see that it changes anything for him, he also did a form of albuterol regularly for a while, he didn't see that it helped either. Oxygen therapy seemed to help stop his constant throat clearing and coughing for a while, but he didn't like doing it.....about to go repeat lung function test and see if his lungs are holding steady or not... sue v. >Avoid what irritates you. Guest guest
Yes. The adverse effects of corticosteroids has been in the medical literature for years. However, it an be beneficial to help reduce inflammation. Dr, Gray limits its use in his patients to no more than 2 weeks. [] Re: anyone doing nebulizer treatments? Guest guest
Thanks, . I stopped the steriod spray years ago after a year on it and singular recently thought of taking again with the RAD like raction ot the dust. I think serrapeptase helps and might ahve cleared the thickening in the bronchial tubes that I ct scanned for once then neg a few years later. Ill look into the zymes and the light. Ice packs is an intereting idea.. my chest wall does also feel inflammed when I have these experiences. Thanks.. Robin > > Robin I go the natural route - tumeric & American Biologics Inf Zyme Forte. Guest guest
Sue, As far as I know, neither steroid or chromalyn in any form will stop any asthma attack in progress. Med-wise that can only be done by a rescue medication like albuterol. Maybe that was what you actually meant to say, if so please disregard. I just wanted to make sure that you do not try and make use of these meds to relieve your sons asthma in the middle of an attack.Best,Sam Neither the chromalyn sodium or the steroid inhalers/nebulizers would stop an asthma attack in progress, for the chromalyn sodium to be effective takes a month or so of regular use... Guest guest
Ditto. I've fought with so many doctors; one refused to accept that I had gained twenty pounds on it. I'm 5'2 " , so this is a lot of weight to gain. I was also a raving lunatic. Although my current doctor validates my reaction, very few doctors accept my extreme sensitivity to medications, especially any level of steroid in any form. Not glad that you have the adverse reaction but validated by your similar response. Sally ________________________________ From: " Gingersnap1964@... Guest guest
THANK you for the explanation. I didn't show positive for allergic but this explains why the albuterol helps me. I am still trying to get out of my apartment. It's very hard to try to get this all done and to make sense to others but I am hanging in here. I am not always able to get back to the computer and am finding that when i check in to the group I learn another thing that makes sense and helps me understand what others seem to blow off. I am astounded how even doctors don't get it about the mold exposure. I thank you all for your input and you are making a difference as a group. Have a nice day! I read something about the alrternaria tenius i think that's what it was and your joints that also makes alot of sense to me. My friend back home has had this already affect her they are going to replace her knee at the end of the month. She is worried the doctor is going to mess her up. They are talking replacing other parts also not just this knee. I haven't told her yet what I read. I kep telling her she needs to tell the doctors about her house but she's not getting it and they don't seem to bea ble to find out what's wrong. She hasn't done a test like i did but she had the sewarage backup in her kitchen, gas leak and her tub is aboput to fall into theis leaking water onto the ceiling in her bathroom. Hoping to feel good enough to try to get to the post office and send her some info. It's hard boith of us talk to each other and feel like death has warmed over. I am wondering what my body is going to do when i get out of here. Now this Chromolyn is part of the medicine right? is it a plant you can buy? I know plants are good to have I had to throw mine all out the soil was contaminated and I am waiting til i move to replace them.
