(AP) - The U.S. Department of Transportation says mold and moisture problems persist at Detroit Metropolitan Airport's air traffic control tower and it could take up to three years to fix them. The update on the problems at the airport in Romulus came Thursday from the U.S. Office of Special Counsel, an independent agency that reviews whistleblower complaints filed by civilian government employees. The Federal Aviation Administration is working to fix the problems, which first were identified in 2004. Efforts to fix the tower and base building include replacing the roof, putting in new drywall and installing new ceiling tiles and carpet. Some former and current air traffic controllers at the airport have said mold exposure caused health problems. http://www.wlns. com/Global/ story.asp?
