Guest guest
put " best natural antifungals " in your search engine. heres one I grabbed. http://curezone.com/forums/fm.asp?i=356231 > > Been real sick again with infections so I went to my PCP (through my insurance) and he prescribed Oral mouth rinse Nystatin and Cephalexin (capsules). I'm not sure if I want to take them because of the side effects and my private preventative doctor has advised me not to take anti-fungals because they are hard on the liver and he wont prescribe them to me; I also think it's because I already have so many symptoms that he may be worried about the side effects for me... > > The question is: Has anyone here taken any of these anti-fungals and did you have major side effects? > > I'm also not sure at this point what natural remedies I could take in place of the anti-fungals that would be strong enough? Guest guest
Cephalexin is an antibiotic. You're lucky he rx's nystatin along with it. Few doctors worry about the fact that antibiotics can cause yeast so he seems pretty smart to me. Nystatin is not absorbed into the body. It just kills yeast in the digestive tract. I don't like rx drugs but I will take antibiotics if I have tried other things. Of course use this opportunity to get lots of probiotics in, started an hour or two after you take the antibiotic and keep taking them, much more frequently than you usually would. Another thing you can do if you are concerned about your liver, which I have to do also, since I have had liver reactions for sure before, including very light grey stool after stomach cramps, burning rash, etc., is to look at rxlist.com and see how Cephalexin is metabolized. Is it metabolized mainly by liver or kidneys. I have no trouble with Flucanole because it is metabolized through the kidneys but could not take Sporanox, which is metabolized through the liver. I took Fluconole for a couple months, no problem, but after a few days on Sporanox, liver rash and had to go off of it. Antibiotics can affect liver too, your right, but you can find out where they are metabolized, also if in doubt, give them a try and see how you do, know the signs of liver trouble, or ask your doctor to take liver enzyme test now and again after you are on them....or tell him you want to try gentler antibiotics/natural first and if that doesn't work, the antibiotics. I've told my doctor that, and they don't mind you trying something else. Discuss with him, take the Rx and keep it somewhere, so if natural way doesn't work, you can fill the rx without another doctor visit. I have a whole bunch of rx's I never fill but keep in case. They usually are good for a year. > > Been real sick again with infections so I went to my PCP (through my insurance) and he prescribed Oral mouth rinse Nystatin and Cephalexin (capsules). Guest guest
my kid has previously taken nystatin and fluconazole w/o side effects. I don't know what cephalexin is. I was just on the phone w/his doctor yesterday, they are going to try him on a different antifungal in a few weeks. His doctor says that you have to monitor liver enzymes, and the antifungals will often bump them up a little which is not dangerous. He said in 15 yrs he had only had to take 2 patients off the antifungals because the liver enzymes went too high...hope this helps, sue >> >Been real sick again with infections so I went to my PCP (through my >insurance) and he prescribed Oral mouth rinse Nystatin and Cephalexin >(capsules). Guest guest
yes, started taking olive leaf but I don't think it's strong enough because lately when I take it, it doesn't seem to work as well but I think that's partly because my infections have been so bad, lately.... thanks, maybe I'll try oil of oregano > > > > Been real sick again with infections so I went to my PCP (through my insurance) and he prescribed Oral mouth rinse Nystatin and Cephalexin (capsules). Guest guest
> > Oil of Oregano and Olive Leaf Extract are two natural anti-fungal, anti-bacterials. D Before I knew about the mold problem in my house, I struggled with a systemic candida infection for many years. I took a bunch of different herbs, as well as periodic courses of Nystatin and Diflucan. And I consumed no sugar whatsoever. The thing that made the most difference was a probiotic compounded by one of my physicians, Dr. Dale Guyer of Indianapolis. It has 18 strains and 50 billion microorganisms per capsule, which is a LOT more than any other probiotic I've ever seen. After I started extreme avoidance, my candida problem went away completely. I even can eat sugar. If I get more than a bit of exposure, though, the candida comes back. This sounds like an ad, but I just thought I'd throw it out there.
