Guest guest
The bottom 4 feet of the moldy room is gutted through to the outside. I smelled the remaining insulation brave one that I am & no mold smell. The drywall was taken out of the closet. The wall of the closet that is on an outside wall is gone. You can walk into the closet from the outside. The sliding glass door & the window is opened. Attic is fine. The crawlspace is ground level so it is open to the air now that the outside wall is gone. It's smells fine in the crawl - like the soil outside. I'm aggravated now. What's with the mold smell???? If I don't get rid of it I can't open up the barriers & let the heat go in there. I'm stumped. Is it just a " smell " at this point ? Also, the contractor wants to use bituthene over the studs (on the outside) , then the plywood, then metal siding. Shouldn't the bituthene be OVER the plywood? or not at all if I really want it to breathe? Forget being cold I have warm clothes & a wood stove that heats 1100 sf & the house is 822. Should I tape the seams of the plywood with fiberglass tape?
