Guest guest
Joe: the only problem I see in publishing with Sage is they are a for profit publisher. The organization charges to publish and then charges the public for the reprints. They make a double whammy. There are online free journals where no such charges are made. That is where the information needs to be published, free to public. Jack-Dwayne: Thrasher, Ph.D. Toxicologist/Immunotoxicologist/Fetaltoxicologist www.drthrasher.org toxicologist1@... Guest guest
Dr. Thrasher, I think that the charge made to the author, for publication,is made only when the author wants his article to be made available, online, at no charge to the reader. For regular publication, where the reader pays the regular, huge charge, to read the article, the author pays nothing. Naturally the regular price for their journal is way beyond what the average person could pay. Almost all their circulation is to institutional libraries. The difficult part for the author, is complying with their condition: " Conditions: All manuscripts are subject to editorial peer review. Manuscripts are received with the explicit understanding that they are not under simultaneous consideration by any other publication. The corresponding author will need to sign a 'Copyright Transfer Agreement' to declare that the paper has not been previously published elsewhere, and that the submission of an article for publication implies agreed transfer of copyright from the author to the publisher upon acceptance. " That condition pretty much limits author submissions to those manuscripts which have already been rejected by mass-circulation journals, or those manuscripts that are so specialized in scope, that they would not even be considered by a more generalized journal. In any case, they are another option for authors to consider, and they are actively soliciting manuscripts. I looked at their FREE sample journal online to get an idea what they are looking for, and I still don't know who their target audience is.
