Guest guest
Thank you, but does beta glucan made from the cell wall of the baker's yeast have an effect on moldies ? Since the yeast protein is inactive is it safe for us ??   God Bless !! dragonflymcs Mayleen ________________________________ From: Kathleen <kpmanganaro@...> Sent: Fri, September 3, 2010 9:34:29 PM Subject: [] Re: Beta - Glucan  An Interview with Jordan, Beta Glucan Expert and U.S. Patent Co-Inventor in Beta Glucan Research I have watched Doug Kauffmann for years. (Know the Cause) He has had Jordan on who has a company called NSC. One of his products is beta glucan. It helps the immune system. If you google any topic related to beta glucan, you will get the information above for a more indepth article Kathi
Guest guest
Thank you Dr Thrasher as that was the answer I was looking for . Was it or was it not safe for moldies and the answer is NO. I like to ask when in doubt.  God Bless !! dragonflymcs Mayleen ________________________________ From: " Jack Thrasher, Ph.D. " <toxicologist1@...> Sent: Fri, September 3, 2010 11:12:05 PM Subject: [] Re: Beta - Glucan  I have bit my tongue long enough. 1,3-beta-D-glucan is a cell wall polysaccharide shed by fungi into the indoor environment. The compound causes adverse pro-inflammatory response in humans and animals by binding to DEC1 and DEC2 receptors. There is plenty of information in the literature regarding its adverse health effects. We even discussed this in the POA paper listed on ACHEMMIC and Policyholders of America web sites. If you want to take this potentially dangerous compound that is prepared from fungi and mushrooms it is your business. Just how pure is the preparation and have all of the exotoxins and endotoxins associated with fungal cell walls been removed? Guest guest
the beta glucans are a polysaccharide, they are not proteins. It is the glucans that post a potential health problem. I am not at all injured by fungi, mushroom or yeasts, but I would not take such a product into my body. Guest guest
Thank you, Dr Thrasher. And some think a few stray spores of " cross-contamination " is the ultimate worry. This is a perfect example of how easy it is to mis-perceive and mis-proportion our experience. Consider what we eat or happily ingest as nutritional supplements (many made from mold) to fight off mold exposure. Even if it has mold or is made from mold we don't perceive it as a mold exposure unless a " pump jockey " counts spores on a lab report. And I'll stop biting my tongue on another recent topic before it too reaches " urban myth " status: The fact of mold exposure should not be treated as a near death experience. Nor should one assume all or even most incidents WILL eventually cause death. A few do but it is extremely rare and should not be assumed. Those who have been that severely impacted are those with very long term exposure to large areas of water damaged buildings and other factors. Stopping the exposure by whatever means possible is the key. The quicker the better. If we don't keep proper perspective we risk worrying ourselves to death. If we don't apply some discrimination we will be guilty of " microbial profiling. " Which is worse than racial, sexual, or religious profiling because we make ourselves the (unnecessary) victim. Guest guest
I have had enough this. I am not responding to this anymore. They can make all the claims they want. Where is the proof? [] Re: Beta - Glucan Beta Glucan supps claim to modulate thus helping prevent an inappropriate cytokine response (assuming some cytokine responses are actually healthy) and autoimmunity. Healthy foods dont always do the trick for folks with bad digestive issues and they are hard to find in some locals. Also beta glucans are not the only supp to help modulate the immune system. But I hate to throw the baby out with the bath water if beta glucans or any other yeast based supp can actually be helpful. Im not clear on the role.. all or nthing all bad? of yeasts (and beta glucans) with HLA types. Robin > > Interesting theory. It is possible. Cytokines and chemokines can cause elation and/or depression according to the literature. Why stimulate the immune system anyway? Eat healthy foods, if you can find them with today's genetically modified agriculture plants. >
