Guest guest
Hi Sherry, You are right, having to lift your kid into the stroller defeats the whole purpose. I have a Dodge mini-van and what I do is park the stroller with the brakes on perpendicular to the van door where Hannah sits. She stands up in the van and I hold her under the armpits and turn and lower her into the seat. It is some weight but not like lifting her up into a chair - gravity is helping you here. Now she is tall enough to be able to climb in it herself. Hope this helps. If you know a PT person, pose the question to them, they might have some tricks up their sleeve. a (Hannah 9 and about 80 lbs.)
Guest guest
<<The MacLaren Stroller we had for Trisha had adjustable handles, did you check to see if yours are adjustable?>> Yeah we checked Carol not adjustable. However we just had a few practice seatings with jamie and she was actually able to swing her foot and her big butt up there into the seat. She's a little scared about getting out but I think we can make this work, dh spun her around in circles a few times and she started flapping her hands and making her funny faces so I guess she likes it ok now:-) Sherry
Guest guest
Oh Sherry (wait that's a Journey song isn't it?!) OMG you had me laughing out loud at your post. OMG you are so funny. Please tell me you're going to be at the picnic - I'm just dying to meet you. Okay, my fault, I'm the 5'9 " person. The seat is above her butt? How tall is she?! steps on the footrest and climbs in or I do have to lift him in sometimes but that's just cuz I don't have the patience sometimes or we're running late or I just feel like my herniated disc needs a little action. I hope the practice mounts and dismounts went well - no ER at least. I must be punch drunk cuz I'm just cracking up over here picturing you pushing that rig down the street in 6 " heels. " Hey Lady, the red light district is the other way! " Hope you get it figured out Sherry, Jayne Sherry Muhs wrote: Donna I know you're one of these people but you're probably already premedicated for your flight to Ireland where I hope you have a wonderful time. Anyway I just got the new stroller and I'm trying to figure out how you get your kids into it? It's really high...way above jamie's butt so I felt like I had to lift her in which is going to defeat the whole purpose. I don't know if any of your kids sit down the old fashioned Down Syndrome way??? fling one foot up then pull up the butt and the other leg? She never backs up to a chair and sits despite extensive PT. But even if she did she'd be too short for this sucker. Also whoever said it worked well for them because they were 5'9 " (grrrr) was right...this thing has tall handles for a 5'4 " (well, ok 3 " ) person. I love how it folds and how lightweight it is but we're gonna have some serious practice mounts and dismounts tonight. I'm thinking I'll buy a pair of 6 " platform heels to wear while pushing it LOL....I'll write you from the ER. Sherry

You're the tall person!!! LOL is 4'6 " but her legs are pretty short. The directions said to have her sit in it without the footrest on so that's what we tried. I guess she could get in if she used the footrest but she's 95lb so I don't want to break it. She managed ok later on tonight- I think she'll get the hang of it. I haven't worn high heels for 10 years- I can't even imagine really wearing them. How big is ? Sherry
Guest guest
Hi Sherry, Sorry it's taken me so long to write back - I'm a bit behind on the inbox! I didn't realize she coudn't use the footrest. I hope by now you've mastered the mount and dismount of the stroller. is almost 4 ft I think - and around 53 lbs. I wanted to ask you, are you coming to the picnic? I would love to meet you! If you come to Va for Carol's technical workshop - we'll get together for sure! Take care and Happy Strolling. Jayne Sherry Muhs wrote: Aha! You're the tall person!!! So we'll have to try it that way I guess. What do you think? She's 95 lb??? No sadly I can't come to the picnic- I'll be struggling away here while dh is in the & * & & ^% Bahamas catching fish for people who have too much money. Do you know they spend over $2000 just to fill the boat with fuel???? Unbelievable. I wish I could meet you guys too...all of you. But as I told some recent newfound email friends, I am technically challenged as you know and am unable to send a picture to the group so just pretend I look like catherine Zeta and my dh like Cloony hahahahahahahaha!! Oh God, my nose just grew 4 inches in a 5 seconds LOL Sherry
Guest guest
Hannah will at times use the footrest as a boost to get up in the seat of the stroller, but it does say that it's not to be used as a step. It is only made of plastic so I've never had her just stand on it. Good luck! a (Hannah 9 and around 75 lbs.)
