The study is expected to determine definitively contaminated drywall has caused a number of problems including corrosion of soft metals including wiring and appliances, and severe detrimental health effects. Senator LeMieux said: " I expressed to Chairwoman Tenenbaum my great concern about the lack of action with regard to the issue of contaminated drywall in Florida and elsewhere in the nation. The study looking at this issue has taken far too long and far too many people are suffering both health and financial burdens because of it. People literally have to move out of their homes and find a new place to live until the drywall is replaced. " I urged the chairwoman to focus all available federal resources to address the problem, expedite the investigation, and move forward with remedial efforts. I will continue to push the agencies involved in the drywall investigation to be thorough and expedient in their studies while reminding them of the difficulties Florida families afflicted by this drywall continue.
