Guest guest
personally Tug, with this illness, I've sent a few guy's out the door, some rather quickly. it kindof boils down to " hey, either you get it or you dont and even if you dont, you either go by the rules or your outta here " . as far as candida and 3 mold colonies, seems this itself exspecially in the sinuses can play havoc. did they wash out your sinuses? > > > > it's hard. one thing that seems like a very important first steps after getting out is haveing your sinuses checked out for fungal balls, cysts, polups, damage, cultures done and sinus washing done. > > even if you dont fell/think theres any problems there. > > >
Guest guest
jeanine, Ive been thinking about whether he washed out my sinuses or not and I really dont remember. Guest guest
Tug: Have you been given either systemic or nasal corticosteroids during your treatment. Two weeks or more of treatment will allow the molds to grow in the sinus cavities. I agree Candida and molds in the nasal cavity and, particularly the sinuses, needs to be taken with concern. Guest guest
bell I went to an ear, nose and throat Dr who knows a considerable amount about mold and how to treat it. Im sure if you ask around you'll find someone in your area who knows of a specialist that can help you > > How would you go about getting a sinus culture done? Guest guest
The key is getting the gunk removed from the sinuses. Even though I used a neti pot daily, I was still unable to remove it. I was treated for both fungal and bacteria infections in my sinuses. Regardless, I would get well for 2 weeks and then need to be on yet another antibiotic. After I left the moldy cabin, I moved to this small town. I started seeing a country doctor here in town. When I first saw him, I told him I had the infection for years and nothing worked in curing it. He said, " I will get rid of it " and that he did. He treated me with a prescription strength guaifenesin (the same thing as mucus X but the prescription dose and a less expensive brand). I was also given a strong antibody and cortisone. I know some of you don't agree with taking antibiotics and cortisone but if one has a bacterial infection for YEARS; it might be what one needs to get well. In my case, it got me well. Just always take probotics when on antibiotics. Anyway, on this aggressive treatment, my sinuses broke loose and you would not believe what came out! I won't gross anyone out in a detailed description but it was like my whole brain dropped out of my nose! I am willing to bet it was the same stuff which had been making me sick for years. I had cat scans and etc BUT, it was the country doctors x-rays with his old fashion x-ray machine which showed the infection! The expensive cat scans never showed anything. Right now I have a little bit of infection. I got a prescription for antibiotics but I am trying to get rid of it through saline rinses before using the antibiotic. I also take allergy shots. I had a great success with them. I had the shots in the past but they never worked or I was too sensitive to continue them. The allergy doctor works well with my sensitivities. If the shots get too much for me, he cuts back on my dosage. I have less sensitivity and few infections thanks to the shots. My suggestions if you are going to treat this at home, wash your sinuses and use guaifenesin. You can get the prepackage of salt and soda but I use plain sea salt and distill water. I also use the guaifenesin which helps to liquefy the snot which is stuck in the sinuses. When I rinse it out with the neti pot or the bottle which my MD gave me, I rinse a few times and then I squirt the water mixture up my noses and sniff and sniff and sniff! This REALLY gets the saline solution in the sinus cavities. Then I sit down and blow with all my might. Usually it comes out. Don't allow a sinus infection to go on no more than 2 weeks. If you are not well after 2 weeks, go to the doctor and just get help. An unattended infection can cause other issues which can be serious. If you feel it is a fungal infection, go to the doctor. If your doctor does not take you serious, find another doctor. Keep looking until you find a doctor who will listen and take your concerns into consideration. > > How would you go about getting a sinus culture done? Guest guest
Sinus cultures for mold are usually negative. However, bacteria can be isolated. You best bet is PCR DNA identification of molds in sinus washings. If you do culture for molds and bacteria I strongly suggest that the plates for molds should be cultured for a duration of 8 to 10 weeks, because they can be very slow in their growth cycle. I recommend that you have mycotoxin tests performed on early AM nasal secretions. Get up in the morning and blow and blow. Save the secretions in a sterile collection cup. You can have your physician order the mycotoxin tests from RealTime laboratories, Dallas Texas. The cultures for bacteria should be done on blood agar plates and Gram negative and Gram positive bacteria be identified. You may will discover the presence of Actinomycetes (Gram negatives). Guest guest
My doctor had a blood culture done for a persistent infection/rash I've had for two years. It came back negative. I called Quest to see how long they cultured it, they said 'three days'..lol! --- In , " Jack Thrasher, Ph.D. " <toxicologist1@...> wrote: > > Sinus cultures for mold are usually negative.
