There are not to many, if any, charitable orgs willing to help individuals like

they used to. They only will help communities, such as, after school programs,

ect. where they can help many at one time, other than just one person. Most of

them will just pass the buck including the united way that many large

corporation donate to.

This is partially what I have been doing for the past couple of months because

of a freak diving accident my 26yr. old brother in law had and is now paralyzed

from the neck down. Its been very discouraging lately, the lack of help and

assistance, state & fed. for someone in this condition. I have not given up yet,

on my daughter and three grandchildren. But its not looking good. Alot involved

with something like this.

There are some grants.

Good Luck

KC,

I am so sorry about what your family is going threw. I realize from my own

personal experience that the " Large " non-profits are taking but not giving

anything.  I went threw so many of those sites it is a disgrace.  They say

they

are,  however they have not been giving to anyone for quite some time.  When

you

are in a disaster and they walk right by you, you know they are there for

publicity so you can give to them but they will not give back to anyone.

I was looking more along the lines of smaller personal sites.  I am on 02 and

have been unable to get anything either.  However I do think there maybe some

for the situation you describe.  I will see what I can find for you.  God

Bless

!!

God Bless !!

Mayleen,

Thank you, and you are right on the mark about those non-profits, but you take

care of yourself. I have been in touch with other family's that are in the same

boat and have been searching for info for a long time. There is some, but also a

very long waiting period. Like anything else it takes time and jumping thru alot

of hoops

The only way I have found to get help is going door to door to churches. There

are a lot of food pantries here. I know of one person who got there electrical

bill paid by the church. A local NPO has helped me a lot with food from their

garden when I have needed it. When I feel good, I go and help in the garden.

Think locally, and go in person.

It is so sad the lack of help out there. My husband went through bypass surgery

and is finally back to work. He didn't get to have the heart therapy, or has had

to cancel heart doctor appointment, but if you only make 1200 a month you get

all that.

The only way we make what we do is if he workds 44 extra hours a month.

We finally got a check and paid our rent but are still late. They had been

patient but there is now a court date. And we would have been caught up a week

after the court date. When you call these agencies there is no money left. One

would help with 200 when all was caught up.

They help with electric if you have a cut off notice. Why do you have to wait

for that. And if you don't have a job you get no help with rent. Kind of weird

how the system is set up.

I am just sad because we have been through so much and it isn't about money but

our safety to have to move when I am sick and my husband just had quadruple

bypass. I imagine something will work out. Just had to go through the migraine,

vomiting thing when I heard they had a court date. I am ill from this court

system in the first place. Dealt with them when I became ill. Of course through

the years things get worse when this illness drags on and you can't work or move

so many times throwing out your belongings so many times.

I am sorry for all involved.

Hi ,

Thank you, but none of the food programs fill our needs.  We have intolerance

to

pesticides, herbicides, additives etc.  I cannot even breathe food with

additives when it is being cooked.  When I first got this I ate an orange and

passed out.  I thought maybe conincidense so I asked others who ate from the

same tree.  They were all fine, so I ate another orange and got the same

symptoms nausea, sweating cold, then I passed out again.  Hope this helps.

God Bless !!

Thank you ,

I get anaphalactic to perfume sents or VCD respiratory disorder, RADS or any

respiratory problem. Even the oxygen does not help me then.   I have gotten

help

for electric. However,  our needs are a bit larger that  I need to move again.

No funds.  I need to be able to get to hospitals that are 6 hours away due to

rare lung diseases. Have no way to do all of this.

God Bless !!

With the economy in the tank the number of people needing assistance keeps

increasing while the number of people giving donations decreases and those that

are still capable of donating are giving much less.

and I would bet that the number of people with chronic debilitating

" invisible " illnesses keeps growing due to the toxic toxic world we live

in, not only mold but chemicals and emfs, these people don't bounce

right back to work like someone with a short hospital stay and

successful surgery....they need long term assistance and care, and there

isn't enuf of that to go around!

our family doctor told a friend of ours that he is seeing more and more

kids with strange illnesses and wonders who will care for them when they

get older, just too many of them and too sick.....

I hear what you are saying however during the disaster it was the same thing

and

the economy had not tanked then.  I just no longer believe in the " large " non

profilts and believe they are for profit.

one visit to a toxic building is enough to set you back for weeks maybe months

at a time so finding something is that much harder.

....and I wonder if the amt of toxic substances that we have contribute to the

obesity since body will put on fat to store toxins. Of course diet of average

American diet terrible also, mainly convenience foods .

This may sound strange, but, if you try it, you will probably get help much

faster than if you do a computer search for charitable sites to help you. The

non-profit charities maintain a website designed for the purpose of aiding the

charitable institutions in finding the personnel they need to help them

distribute their charity. If you go to this web site:

http://www.volunteermatch.org/

and type in your zip code, or city, and, in the next entry field, type in the

type of help that you need, such as " food " or " shelter " or " home " or " bed " , you

will get a complete listing of YOUR local charities. You can then go to, or

phone, to find out just how you go about receiving the charitable help that you

need. My own local food pantry even has an " online " application for food

eligibility, that you can print out, and fill-in, and bring with you, when you

go there to get your first food assistance. This web site was created by, and is

funded by, the U.S. Government, since the election of President Obama.

As far as " meals-on-wheels " , you usually have to be over 62 years old, as it is

a service for " senior citizens " but they will consider you for delivery, if you

are on disability, or can prove some hardship. It's a " pay what you can afford "

service. I personally pay $1 per meal, because that's what I can afford,[i'm

67], but they don't make you feel bad, if you can only pay less than that. It's

one meal a day, delivered hot, and ready to eat. It is a nutritionally balanced

meal, and is always more than I can eat at one time. It usually comes between

10:30 AM and 1:00 PM.

Good Luck and God Bless you all, and may you all be inscribed, by God,for a

healthy year, on Yom Kippur, tonight.

Joe

I have gotten very little help & lost health & money in the process of trying

every time. I would have to make tons of copies of stuff, drive somewhere, get

toxed up by it all, forego basic daily tasks to get it done & be left feeling

more hopeless afterwards. They are just not set up to provide anything for

someone with sensitivities.

Now that I have a house I am going hungry to save the electricity I'd use on a

fridge & cooking. But I do get help from HEAP once a year for electric or

firewood, & through WRAP I get a winter discount on electric.
