very OT: permanent laundry markers

We are trying to teach to put on her own clothes correctly and she's doing

pretty well. We show her the tag on T shirts and shorts so she knows which is

the back. On her underwear however there are no tags. I'm wondering about

permanent markers to make a mark on the back of her panties. Do you all know if

a regular sharpie permanent marker will work or is there a special laundry

marker I need to buy? I'm sure many of you have had to label clothing for you

kids for camp or group homes or whatever. I just don't want everything to run in

the washer. Thanks!!
