Guest guest
Elyse, I had a metal roof put on, but only over the back portion of the house and I never hear the rain on it. Maybe it's how it's put on? Barth --- m> Sam, m> Good point about the wood, if any needs to be replaced it could be a problem m> finding non chemically treated wood. m> I am more sensitive than most people, I'm affected by things that many m> aren't (like fabric softener and other everyday things that people use) m> which is why when other people are not affected it doesn't mean I won't m> be. Technically the roof is supposed to be sealed and toxic materials should m> not be able to get through to the house, but there's no way to know for m> sure. I wish there was a way to know how good a seal in the roof is and if m> formaldehyde would sneak through to the house. m> It's very difficult to find safer versions of all the possible materials m> that might be used. Maybe like you say because I'm not in a very hot m> climate it might be ok. Our summers do get hot and very muggy in Canada, m> but not nearly as hot as Arizona, and they don't last as long either. Guest guest
I agree, no noise from rain. I had a metal roof on my other mobile home, lived there 8 yrs. I have been in this mobile home for 3-1/2 yrs, metal roof, no noise here either from rain.  I don't like a swamp cooler or air conditioner on the metal roof as it can cause rusting. Per comments from other MH owners, if the service person does not walk carefully on the roof, the seams can separate and that could cause a leak. A friend of mine took care of that-- when he bought his used mobile home, even though the roof was almost new, he had another metal roof put on top of that. He said there are 3 metal roofs on his MH. He has owned the MH for more than 20 yrs, it's a 1978, never leaked. ...............Corky ________________________________  Elyse, I had a metal roof put on, but only over the back portion of the house and I never hear the rain on it.
