Honey just wait till you see my kicking and hear my screaming

but then again I may be too pooped to put up much of a fight so unless you

can move 170 pounds of dead weight, I'll be wherever I last pooped

(not meant in the bathroom way cuz my problem while Tae-Boing is with

Was there anyone (regulars at the WTC) in the classes that could keep

up?!?!?! It's so hard to imagine that Tae-Bo can be done safely at

those speeds and, for that matter, be done that fast at all!

I've been singing that song for so long I'm hoarse

Barb

who believes Tae-Bo can be everything from a total body work-out, a relaxing

stretch work-out, an energizing power work-out, a weight resistance work-out,

to last but never least, an aerobic cardio work-out, either low impact or

high impact, and sometimes all of the above just by shifting one's approach

at any given moment

Cari,

I really enjoyed meeting you and I'm so glad we had a chance to chat

a bit in the line before 's class! You did great in 's

class :) If it makes you feel any better, there were several times I

wanted to throw up during the class....LOL! It was extremely tough

and it was REALLY hard to modify because of all the people!

I'm sorry we didn't get to spend more time together! But, I'm sure

there will be a next time and hopefully we can hang out more! I

think you and I have some similar issues that we're working

through.....the same competitive nature, the feeling of wanting to

push harder and be better, etc! It's not a bad thing to have, but

you really have to be extra aware of your body and really listen to

the signals it's sending you! It's so easy for that trait to

become detrimental if you aren't aware of your body! Anyway, I

thought you looked absolutely terrific and I hope that things get a

little less hectic for you! Try not to be too hard on yourself and

do what you can :) I know you're busy, but please let us know how

things are going for you! You can e-mail me personally anytime you

want to :) And try to get to the WTC as much as you can cause I

think that will really help keep you motivated! And maybe you can

hook up with and Kat (cause I KNOW Kat will be there at least

once a week, right Kat????)....LOL! And that will give you some " me "

time....where you can get away and do something just for you! Hang

in there, Cari! I'll be thinking of you!

Ann Marie,

Yes, the regulars could keep up! But, you also have to remember that

some of them do this every day or several times a week! It's

definitely a level you have to work up to! There are also many

people who do LOTS of walking it out! As for seeing results more

quickly.....I think that it's safer to start off slower. During

combat class yesterday, we were sparring with each other at the very

end, and almost every person in the class was simply exhausted. He

gave us a pep talk after class about not giving up (because some

people simply stopped instead of going slower and working on form)

and that when we

are tired is when we need to work on our form and technique. So,

even if you are

doing the moves at a slower pace....you should be concentrating on

your form. He told us not to sacrifice our form for speed, which is

what some people were doing. I think he says things like that all

the time during and after his classes, so hopefully people hear that

and listen to him. Of course, there are always the people who are

just in there to burn calories and don't care about form....but

that's gonna happen in any class (especially in LA)! His latest

analogy is something that really hit home with me.....he talks about

how there is always electricity running through a house, even when

the lights are out. When you walk into the room, all you have to do

is flip the switch and the light goes on. Does that mean there's no

electricity when the lights are off? No, it's still there...it just

needs to be turned on! He said it's the same with your

spirit....it's always there and all you need to do is turn the

switch! He was talking about how when you're tired....that's when

you need to flip the switch and use your spirit! He said he didn't

want us to work out with a dead spirit...but to turn the switch on

and use the spirit and will that are inside of you! I hope this is

making sense....it sounds a lot better coming from ....LOL!

Anyway, after the first class....I felt a bit discouraged cause I had

a hard time doing the classes at that pace! And I was thinking " man,

I'm an instructor and I can't keep up...what's wrong with me? " But,

after that class I realized that it's ok that I can't keep up right

now! I don't work out at this level every day! If I did, I'm sure

that eventually I would be able to keep up! You just have to do the

best you can and listen to your body! But, I don't think that

working out faster necessarily means that you will see results more

quickly. If you have proper form and technique, you will be able to

do the moves correctly and will get a better workout than the person

who is simply trying to keep up with the pace of the workout. They

may get a better cardiovascular workout, but you will be getting a

better overall workout! Does that make sense?

,

Thanks for that wonderful insight as always! Yes, it all made

perfectly good sense to me! I loved 's analogy about the

electricity too.

It all sounded so intimidating at first when you all described the

pace at the WTC. After reading your reply to me, it brought back

memories of how the studio advanced workout used to seem so VERY

intimidating after doing the studio basic for the first few months.

(how quickly we forget!) Now, after having been working with the

Basic Live tapes and successfully AND slowly building up to the

advanced workouts, the studio advanced tape doesn't seem so bad.

Because I don't have the opportunity to go the WTC on a regular basis

and my only workout contact is with the tapes, anything more than

what we've seen already almost seems impossible. I believe it's a

knee-jerk, human nature reaction to something that is difficult. It

happens to all of us, but then when we take a second look at it, it

turns out to be not so difficult after all and is possible. Just

like our discussion last week about floorwork. It is do-able if you

slowly build up to it. Of course we can't do all of it the first

time out, but like you said if you did it every day at that pace, it

is possible to get a handle on and keep up.

As far as quicker results by working out at a higher intensity, I

wasn't sure if we were missing out on something from the live WTC

workouts that we're not getting from the tapes, other than seeing

& the crew in the flesh!

Thanks again, !

Ann Marie
