Jill,

Careful what your friend uses in her machine. If she uses regular

I have no idea if running bleach through a machine first would work or

not.

Since the concern is to get residue out, and not for killing germs or

bleaching, does it need to be bleach? Can it be anything else? How about

peroxide?

When people use dryer sheets I have a hard time getting the stink off the

sides of the dryer, hopefully this person does not use dryer sheets or

fabric softener in the wash, that stuff really sticks. Regarding bleach, I

once used some on sheets and could not get the smell of bleach out of them.

I couldn't sleep on them so I had to get rid of them. I'm just pointing

out that whatever is used might not completely wash out.

I have no idea if running bleach through a machine first would work or not.

For removing odors use baking soda or vinegar. In the wash.

In the dryer you can wipe down with vinegar, let it run and wipe

with vinegar repeat process. But if it is constantly going to use of fragrances

that is very very hard to do.

Add 1/2 cup of vinegar to the rinse cycle.

Add 1/2 cup soda to your washing machine load. plus 1/2 cup of borax , you can

a sudsy soap too if you like,

All is still a chemical detergent. free and clear are

not necessarily unscented.

What is fragrance-free?

Fragrance-free products are free of artificial AND natural scents, including

essential oils. Products labeled " natural " are not necessarily safe to use

around people with severe chemical sensitivities. Products labeled " unscented "

are sometimes okay, but sometimes contain heavy chemical masking agents designed

to cover up a scent (see " The Ever-Unstable World of Labels " ). It is best to

only use natural products specifically labeled " fragrance free. "
