Guest guest
Elias, I agree with most of what you say. But I still think it too simplistic to lay all the blame with the EPA and corruption. I don't intend to defend or apologize for them but many of their attempts have been limited by Congress not giving them the authority or funding. Pesticides and TLVs for chemicals for instance. When they have the authority industry typically sues them in court, usually winning. When it comes to the indoor environment the EPA is specifically prohibited by law from regulating or enforcing anything. One exception is with lead-based paint. Even then Congress under pressure from industry forced nearly a years delay in enforcement of the RRP Rules of last April. I agree the world is polluted. I agree there is a lot of corruption. I don't agree with picking out one of the responsible many and placing the focus and blame only on them. As for the article you originally cited, he offers only opinion without one piece of evidence which can be fact checked for being true, false or anything. Carl Grimes Healthy Habitats LLC (fm my Blackberry) Re: [] Re: Gets EPA " Designed for the Environment " Carl says; BTW, the usual criticism is the EPA doesn't do enough. This article criticizes them for doing too much - which people on Sickbuildings desparately need. Which is it? Too much or too little? How about this for criticism of the EPA?? Our environment is mucked up!!! So they are failing at whatever they are doing?? Too much or too little! What like 300 new chemicals are produced/added/introduced daily to our environment? Let me say this, IMHO in my humble opinion EPA is a Joke!!! No newspaper, online news needed to grasp that. Advocate now feel free to use that in your book with my compliments!! Keep the two cents. Im sure they were a big help to Brocovich though:) Carl says; (Granted, overpayment of themselves doesn't help us - IF that claim is true. My understanding is the overpayment occurs when governmental employees leave for private business and to become lobbyiests) Did you mean lobbyist? Over payment occurs AFTER?? Why would they be over paid after they leave office? And who cares if thats the case anyway. And for arguments sake, does it matter if they are overpaid by us as tax payers or from special interests while in or out of office? Both are deplorable. But it is a fact that some government employees including and especially those in congress make millions of dollars *WHILE IN* their government positions. MILLIONS of dollars!! I dont know about you but when i give people something of value i expect something in return. When you have corruption like that at the top it trickles down no doubt to other government offices orrifices like EPA and FDA. But dont take my word for it, if you look into it you dont have to look too far. We are living at the most corrupt time in the history of the United States government. Sad but true! Sorry for my soap box rhetoric but im having a bad brain day(seriously) due to my exposure from my environment. Elias
