Guest guest
Hi, I am dealing with an interesting situation. My basement used to have water in the center of no where in the spring, I put in french drain, and the water in the middle went away. However, due to the Radon reading at 5, I later put in a radon fan and covered the french drain with plastic covers ( by the radon remediation company), seal the sump pumps last year. late December last year, I had a flood in the bathroom upstairs due to toilet water line leak, the kitchen below has water leaking through the ceiling. And, the center of the basment also had some water. The french drain does not work now?? I had new 6 " gutters and new front siding put in last summer. Regraded the outside somewhat. I did noticed the rain was jumping out from the wrong end last Nov/Dec time. Now, I had the gutter people reshaped the gutter, roofer replaced a pipe, fixed the water line of the toilet. But, the french drain is not working any more? M Momoko, If water is rare, it's not worth the expense. In my experience, most basement water problems are due to improper dispersal of roof water. Spend some money on subsurface dispersal of water to daylight. Make sure that all the grading is correct.Purchase a Santa Fe dehumidifier. Clean the basement so that you can eat off of any surface.
