Guest guest
Wow Melody! They're fantastic, when did you start these little beauties? Mine are far, far behind, they're just starting to grow green shoots but their roots are teeny! If there's a race I'm gonna lose it here hehe Peas are looking good too, one day I'll stump up the massive shipping costs and buy from Sprout People. Just waiting for my current supplies to run down a bit. As I said before I live in the wrong country sometimes Charlotte > > I never knew they would look like this. Guest guest
Looked like they were growing well. Did you do the video on using the orgreenic pan? Sounded like your voice, Melody. And thought that might be your veggie batter patties. They look really good if they are. Guest guest
I don't know how long that one is on there and you never show your face, only your husband's. LOL. It just sounded like your voice and I don't recognize your hands. So, is that you? Guest guest
I haven't bought a lot but Sprout People has seemed to be good. No bugs in ones I have gotten from them. I may go ahead and buy some peas and sunflowers from Sprout People and let the can I bought before of sunnies just sit there until I have room in the freezer to let it sit for 60 days. Carolyn Wilkerson  To: sproutpeople Sent: Sunday, May 27, 2012 6:42 PM Subject: Re: Re: Here's my video on my Popcorn Sprouts  That's been my experience and I have other sources over time and they have the highest germination of them all Jane > > They are really growing nicely. Guest guest
Melody are you growing them blanched or green? I'm really undecided here with mine. I had intended to go soil-less but I changed my mind and they're in a compost/vermiculite mix, they seemed so slow germinating that I decided they could do with the extra help of having somewhere to anchor themselves properly. I might keep them dark, try them blanched and then green them up. I can't see an awful lot of difference between the two states really, I do think it's a real gimmick to have them as a pale yellow (think popcorn colour!), the restaurants probably like them that way. Here's something interesting. Someone somewhere on a forum had posted complaining that their popcorn shoots tasted bitter. They'd grown them blanched. The advice from another forum member was that blanched = less sweet. It made good logic, as it is the photosynthesis that produces the sugars. So, if blanched, logically they should be less sweet although more tender. That's the opposite of what we're led to believe! Even if the sweetness of blanched popcorn shoots is due to the carb-rich kernels somehow being converted into sugars to provide energy for growth, then the photosynthesis of a green popcorn shoot should make it sweeter still. That's why I am swaying towards green shoots. If sprout people are happy with green, and they're experts in growing, then maybe I'm messsing about unduly by finding a completely dark space for them! Guest guest
Charlotte: I'm in complete agreement with you. To keep it simple, I'm just doing them like pea shoots. I have no desire to keep them in the dark (where on earth would I keep them in the dark anyway?). If I put them in a dark closet, I'll forget them, lol lol So in a few days, if they shoot up, I'll do another video and we can all see how my popcorn SHOOTS, instead of POPS!!! lol Melody
Guest guest
That was more like it. You need to stand in front of the camera for a change so we can see you as well as what you are growing. Maybe s tripod or maybe Alan can hold the camera. You look quite attractive and jolly and look very professional looking and you should be in some of your videos. Carolyn Wilkerson  To: sproutpeople Sent: Sunday, May 27, 2012 8:32 PM Subject: Re: Here's my video on my Popcorn Sprouts  Carolyn (and everybody else, lol): Just so you know what I look like, here is a video of me and Alan at Christmas. Guest guest
I should have realized you weren't a chunky monkey like me. I haven't gotten into sprouts enough. I wouldn't want to be in front of the camera right now. Carolyn Wilkerson  To: sproutpeople Sent: Sunday, May 27, 2012 9:16 PM Subject: Re: Here's my video on my Popcorn Sprouts  Yes Maam!!! lol Melody > > > > > > Looked like they were growing well. Did you do the video on using the orgreenic pan? Sounded like your voice, Melody. And thought that might be your veggie batter patties. They look really good if they are. > > > > > > > > > Carolyn Wilkerson > > > > > > > > >  > > > > > > From: Melody <eliz7212@> > > > To: sproutpeople > > > Sent: Sunday, May 27, 2012 12:28 PM > > > Subject: Here's my video on my Popcorn Sprouts > > > > > > > > >  > > > I never knew they would look like this. Guest guest
I love you. You just told me I wasn't a chunky monkey. I have (or should I say HAD), been a chunky monkey all my life.
