Guest guest
No. You did not say that autism etc should be changed to toxic encephalopathy. You said that the disorders have toxic encephalopathy in common. You said: " For example, epidemiology research in California has demonstrated that exposure to pesticides is associated with autistic spectrum disorder, Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's. These people do not necessarily have chronic sinusitis, but they have one thing in common: brain inflammation and toxic exposure. i.e. toxic encephalopathy. " Toxic encephalopathy is not recognized by the medical profession. MCS has been recognized in the courts, especially in cases involving social security. In 1998 our local county court recognized MCS and held court in a different location to accommodate someone. I guess I will continue to disagree with changing the name. It is already accepted by many federal agencies and many countries. To me, trying to change the name just brings more confusion not clarity. Not everyone with toxic encephalopathy has chemical sensitivities do they? MCS is caused by toxic encephalopathy, just as the other disorders. That should be stressed. No disagreement there. Is there a test to prove someone has toxic encephalopathy? That would be the most helpful. These disorders have been name and should not be changes because of the medical recognition. MCS term needs to be dropped and replaced with either or both toxic encephalopathy of CIRS MCS carries a negative picture in the minds of the medical profession. In addition, if you should take a case of MCS to the courts, it will be rejected under Daubert and -Frye standards. It is this simple, please do bother me with this subject again. Me as well as many other experts in this country will not take on a case of MCS for these reasons.
