Guest guest
I have received a package of Organic pre-rinsed Quina (red kind). I know that Quina has this Saponin on it that we usually have to rinse well and THEN we can cook it. So how do they make a Quinoa that does not have to be rinsed? It's dry and looks fine but I'm just curious. It's a good question. Melody
Guest guest
They pre rinse it and then re dehydrate it to remove the saponins. I used to have to do that with the red quinoa I bought in bulk, so I could make flour with it. The kind I get now I can use from the as-it-comes state, MUCH easier, I tell ya! I like the red far better than the yellow. You should try grinding some into flour in your Vitamix-makes GREAT muffins and batter breads, or you could use as the flour in your patties! > > I have received a package of Organic pre-rinsed Quina (red kind). Guest guest
Melody, The pre rinsed is easy to cook. Package directions work well. Simply use two cups of liquid peer one cup of quinoa. Combine them, bring to a boil then reduce heat and let simmer covered for about 15 minutes. Guest guest
Ernest You're right but I don't have any more. I had only bought one pound and that was a long long time ago. It's gone already. Now I make my own mixes. Don't forget, the lovely Jane sent me LOTS of seeds. I still can't get over the kindness of others.
