Guest guest
I had breast cancer years ago and I don't take estrogen or anything like that even though had hysterectomy and was menopausal before I had that. That is what causes cancer at times, too. So if a history of cancer, especially breast cancer, estrogen is a nono so I guess soy is a nono then.. Carolyn Wilkerson  To: sproutpeople Sent: Tuesday, April 3, 2012 12:49 PM Subject: Soy  Soy is a natural forming estrogen. Estrogen (listen to all those oral contraceptive commercials) can cause clots. I'm sure there is a fine line of too much but what I was told by a doctor (gyno-urologist) is that I personally should stay away from soy with my blood clotting history. Let me say that between the time I was 19-29 (when I had a hysterectomy)I had so many phlebitis and emboli I was in the hospital almost as much as I was out. So when they heard I was using soy milk to help with hot flashes and menopausal symptoms they warned me away from soy. I did have some silken tofu in a soup recently but from the 8 oz package I barely but a dent in it. Hope that makes sense..I think it is because of my history I was told to stay away from soy...now Meredith (my son's SO and soon to have our 3d grandchild) is a Vegan but she will not have soy either...never asked why Debbie in NJ > > Soy products cause blood clots? >  > > Carolyn Wilkerson > >
Guest guest
I will NEVER forget being in my previous doctor's office when I was almost 50 years old and he looks at me and says " you'd be a PERFECT candidate for hormone replacement therapy " . I looked at him and said 'Oh really, absolutely everyone in my family (on my mother's side) EVERYBODY has had some sort of cancer. He got this look of horror and said " Oh my god you should go on Tamoxifen immediately " . I never did, I'm hitting 65 this year and YOU KNOW HOW I EAT. I shall continue. We ARE what we EAT!! Guest guest
It's the doctors and their drugs along with " refined " and " processed " foods killing us. At 65 I switched to being vegan. No doctors, no pills and 6 years year I split my own wood for the wood fireplace and and more healthy and more fit than I ever was. I'm now back into sprouting again and enjoy them immensely. > ** > > > I will NEVER forget being in my previous doctor's office when I was almost > 50 years old and he looks at me and says " you'd be a PERFECT candidate for > hormone replacement therapy " . > > I looked at him and said 'Oh really, absolutely everyone in my family (on > my mother's side) EVERYBODY has had some sort of cancer. > > He got this look of horror and said " Oh my god you should go on Tamoxifen > immediately " . > > I never did, I'm hitting 65 this year and YOU KNOW HOW I EAT. > > I shall continue. > > We ARE what we EAT!! > > Melody > > > -- ~~~~~~!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~!~~~~~~ http://ruralgeekonline.blogspot.com Donovan Mora, NM 87732

Guest guest
well, when I moved out here 7 years ago, I wasn't taking any pills, prescribed ones. I was overweight but reasonably healthy for my age. Came from sea level to 7500 feet and was glad I had stopped smoking the year before that. I couldn't walk up the long driveway with a slight incline without stopping halfway to catch my breath. hehe I do live on the side of a mountain in the mountains so nothing is really flat here. Just relative inclines, some mellow some steep. Got aquainted with a small health store in the tiny town and within 6 months went vegan and lost weight. Still healthy but I would say much healthier than before. I always caught colds and flu in the winter. Haven't had any since I moved here so that's good. I don't even take aspirin now. I can take white willow bark if I have a head ache which i hardly ever get. There are natural herbs I can take but it's not like taking big pharma's deadly handouts - those I do not want or get. I definitely do not get a yearly flu shot - I don't want to get sick. I've never had one actually. In my earlier years I've been on pills for one thing or another but never all the time; just to get over something. I had a bad bout of colon cancer 50 years ago but don't remember taking any pills for that once I got over it. Guest guest
Probably don't have as many people to catch flu or colds from. It is sort of like with garlic, people who take garlic don't get as many colds, but I wonder if it is the garlic that helps them or the garlic that keeps others away and they don't catch the germs. Guest guest
I used to have a spray to spray in my face on planes. It may have helped but it smelled good and I liked it and it was very refreshing.  I am not sure if they even allow something like that on the plane now. I got it out in NM when I was there once. I have seen people on there with things over the mouth and nose but figured it was the swine flu but my husband said it was probably a cancer patient who can't allow herself to come in contact with germs. Maybe more should wear them. Carolyn Wilkerson  To: sproutpeople Sent: Tuesday, April 3, 2012 10:53 PM Subject: Re: Soy  Well, locals are always coming into the health store asking me what to take for their colds so I do get a good dose of germs in some seasons. <grin> Every time I took an airplane somewhere I got sick. Must of been the recycled air. But there are a lot less people here than the SoCal suburb I came from.
