Guest guest
Which hand held steam cleaner do you use.? I bought one once but it never worked. I got disenchanted but am now looking for another one. Thanks, Melody > > > > Oh I have to tell you a true story about what happened to me while I was cleaning out my shower. This had to be 15 or so years ago. They had come out with a Clorox product called Clean Shower (I think it was called that). You sprayed the walls of the shower and all the soap scum and mildew would float to the tub. It worked. I loved it. > > > > But....one day another product claiming to do the same thing was put on the market. A generic kind of shower cleaning thing that I got in the dollar store. Same directions. As I sprayed it on the walls of my shower, well, I could not breathe. It felt like I was in the gas chamber (and I have no idea what a gas chamber would feel like) but I thought I was dying. I ran out of the bathroom, ran into the living room, opened up the front door and stuck my face out in the cold cold air. I just stayed there. It was the most horrible breathing experience I have ever had. Thank god I was fine in a few minutes. I noticed I didn't like the SMELL of that product either. It smelled like chlorine, strong strong chlorine. I just through out the product and never used that or any other kind of shower spray thing ever again. > > > > Ugh. > > Melody > > >
Guest guest
I poured bleach down the drains in bathroom and even down toilet and flushed and then rinsed, but it still smelled like chlorine for quite a while, but I thought it was better than the smell of the sewer gas. Then some days we have no problem at all. Don't know if it is some kind of weather inversion or what.  Neighbors have had a problem with it too. We are in a park with private lines and it was just a few homes with the problem.  Don't know if there is a leak or what the problem is. I sure don't like it. I did find a nice container with little balls of gel in it and that is taking out any odors but it hasn't been bad there. I did buy an air purifier and got odor prefilder with charcoal. Does help with dust but didn't do much if the sewer gas picks up. People are beginning to leave the park for the summer so it may get better with less use in lines. Carolyn Wilkerson  To: sproutpeople Sent: Tuesday, April 3, 2012 10:26 PM Subject: Re: Cook & Salt - Crockpot cooking  Oh I have to tell you a true story about what happened to me while I was cleaning out my shower. Guest guest
I have several of them. I have one I use just in my bathrooms (you CAN use the same one all around the house, but I found one at a yard sale for next to nothing, and it seemed better to have one dedicated for bathroom use, since you can blast up under the toilet rim with it...didn't want to steam clean my oven after blasting my potty, lol. I have a SCUNNCI brand, which I like a lot. I used to have a Steam Buggy, but it was big and bulky, and when the new hand held ones came out, I got those. I have the Bissel Steam Shot and the Lysol Steamer-the lysol one has a container where you are meant to add a cleaning agent, but since I don't use chemicals, I just add peroxide. I also have the Shark vac then steam for my floors. I use a SCOOBA for mopping, but like to " deep clean " with the steamer. I also have a Bissel carpet steamer, which will heat/steam clean my carpets. I tried the Shark model that had a bazillion attachments and microfiber cloths, but the chemical smell on the microfiber gave me migraines, and I could NOT get them washed out...found out they treat them with some chemical or the other, and it doesn;t come out. Overall, I am happy with any of the steamers-you can get them for about 40 bucks at places like BigLots. QVC or HSN, don't remember which, had a special on TWO of the Bissel steam shots for about 50 bucks-well worth it. > > > > > > Oh I have to tell you a true story about what happened to me while I was cleaning out my shower.
