Guest guest
Mel, It also says to steam mung beans. You don't do that, and neither do I. I wanted to contact this person, but I don't see any way to do it. ew Re: intro Ernest: Here's the website that mentioned the toxins on lentils: http://www.organic-gardening-and-homesteading.com/sprouting-wheat-berries.html And here's the quote about lentil sprouts: To Grow Sprouts From Lentils Put 2/3 of a cup of lentils into the jar and allow them to soak for six to twelve hours. Allow them to sprout for two to four days or until they are one quarter inch to one inch long. Steam them lightly to remove toxins before eating. It's not a bad site. It think it for doomsday prepper people. Melody
Guest guest
Well, I'm certainly not going to worry about it. And how did you like my video of me showing the kids my sprouts?? Guest guest
Ah, but in sprout form, not in lentil form. When I get back from my granddaughter's baptism (last one to be baptised at 8 years old), then I am going to plant everything and start again. So tempted to do that now, but would be a waste as no one but me would take care of it and I'm going to be gone.  Carolyn Wilkerson  To: sproutpeople Sent: Tuesday, April 10, 2012 11:32 AM Subject: Re: intro  Who said that you had to cook lentils? I eat them just like they are. I harvested a batch yesterday. Ate several during the process of packing them for the refrigerator. Last night, i tossed them in my garden salad. I eat everything: Bean, root, sprout and hulls. Eat and enjoy! ew intro > > > > Hi, my name is maryruth. I live in N. Idaho out in the country. Guest guest
Video was good. Next time let the kids eat some sprouts and give you their opinion. ew Re: intro > > Ernest: > > Here's the website that mentioned the toxins on lentils: > > http://www.organic-gardening-and-homesteading.com/sprouting-wheat-berries.html > > And here's the quote about lentil sprouts: > > To Grow Sprouts From Lentils > Put 2/3 of a cup of lentils into the jar and allow them to soak for six to twelve hours. Guest guest
I suppose if a person sprouted them in the ground with dirt that came from the garden, maybe they have to be cooked in that case. If the seeds are organic and clean then why would they need to be cooked. Maybe with bugs in them, perhaps they should be cooked.  Carolyn Wilkerson  To: sproutpeople Sent: Tuesday, April 10, 2012 10:41 PM Subject: Re: Re: intro  Mel, It also says to steam mung beans. Guest guest
What I do when I'm showing someone my sprouts is to eat one first. Then offer a taste. Works every time. ew Re: intro I tried. Guest guest
Been there, done that. You think I'm a novice at showing people my sprouts and stuff? This was just the first time they actually came in and saw how I grew it. I've been outside with my little tray and I once popped a pea shoot in my mouth. Even the mom wouldn't go near it. Yesterday I was telling her outside, " you know I grow my own food right? " She said " Oh yeah, you showed us once when you brought the little tray outside'. They will either be interested or will not be interested. That has been my experience. I wanted them to be excited by this. I would have given them little trays to take home. But unfortunately, today, we are bombarded by commercials of Chef Boyardee, and chicken mcnuggets and sprouts will NEVER win over those things if a kid has been eating like this all their life. I think it has to start from when the kid first starts eating solid food. Bring some seeds in and start growing, get the kid involved, let him eat salads, etc. etc. He'll be used to it. His body will be used to feeling good WITHOUT sugar. But today, all you see on the shelves is sugar sugar and more sugar, high fructose corn syrup, etc. And today's moms are just to busy to even think of cooking. Every single day there is a pizza delivery to people on my block or chinese food or whatever. I even know a pregnant mom to says " I can't wait for Boston Market to open so I can order in Macaroni and Cheese " . Their reasoning (I've asked this of them). Why the h should I cook when I can order in? " So there you have it. We live in completely different times. We can order in anything we like. No cooking, no cleanup. We can do whatever we want, regardless of the impact on our bodies. My friend around the corner, Angie (remember her in the video I made?) well I can't wait to get her in my house and show her my garden. She's the only 84 year old I know who takes supplements, eats like a champ, has the body of a 40 year old and and can really boogie. And she has all her own hair!!! lol Melody > > > > Video was good.
