Guest guest
" Infants or toddlers who lived in bedrooms with vinyl, or PVC, floors were twice as likely to have autism five years later, in 2005, than those with wood or linoleum flooring. " http://www.environmentalhealthnews.org/ehs/news/autism-and-vinyl-flooring Lets recall that linoleum is a great vapor-barrier and vinyl is a semi-permeable vapor-barrier. Lets recall that the semi-permeable vapor-barriers are most likely to create the worst mold conditions for a house. Autism and asthma go up with vinyl flooring, which is about 6 times cheaper than linoleum. Also, the study mentions that MOISTURE ON THE WINDOW PANES in children's bedrooms makes children more likely to get ashtma & autism. Lets recall that this is also a big risk for mold developing in the sill of such windows. The researchers are attributing the problem to the pthalates in the vynal flooring, but the mold-issue was not mentioned. This is just more evidence that linoleum, and double-paned windows are helpful when seeking to live in a safer dwelling.
