Guest guest
I take 6000 mg a day when I'm really sick. Then down to 4000 when I feel better. Guest guest
Hope you don't crystallize your kidneys with those doses. I take 600 and it works to keep my levels normal. Guest guest
I wonder if there are transdermals for people who don't absorb D well. Anyone w pancretic problems may have trouble getting D out of fatty foods. > > > > Hope you don't crystallize your kidneys with those doses. Guest guest
Amount needed is individual. Depends upon skin coloration, latitude at which you live, how much sunshine you get without sunscreen, what your VDR genetics are, and what your blood levels of 25-OH-Vit D3 test at. Also whether you have adequate Vitamin A and K, which helps the D use in the body. Too much D without A will become toxic and create an A deficiency. Vit D is a steroid hormone which, like every hormone, works in conjunction with other hormones, peptides, and so on. Guest guest
Last summer in preparation for an outdoor party I was going to, I went out and got some sun and a skin condition I had cleared up...so I'm thinking now the vit D from the sun. I might have absorption problems from ingestion of vit D bec my other nutrient levels are fine but for now just will supplement and this summer try to get sunshine regularly. For winter would like to find a transdermal source of vit D. > > Its not so much Vit D but Vit D3 that is needed to help immune system. Guest guest
Okay, now I'm concerned. How do I get the right balance of these. Maybe I should be tested for all the fat soluable vitamins. I looked at my test and it just says vit D, doesn't say vit D3 and no A tested or K or E, etc. I do have a cyst in my pancease and the health of my panceas has been a concern and the pancrea digests fats. > > Amount needed is individual. Guest guest
I had an extreme deficiency when we found it 3 years ago and we have been slowly bringing it up. I use a brand that is in oil and in drop form, and it is very easy to take. I have heard that oil is important...something you may want to check with your health care practitioner/nutritionist. [] OT: Vit D I've read that having good Vit D levels is very important to getting well. On blood tests this is the only nutrient I have tested below minimal levels so I am going to supplement. Does anyone have any recommendations for vit D supplementation? Thanks...kind of like a vacation here lately!
Guest guest
I read somewhere that you can take vit. D but it's not going to benifet you like getting sun well. > > > > Its not so much Vit D but Vit D3 that is needed to help immune system. Guest guest
Its such a shame that sun has become so dangerous. A double edged sword I guess, sunlight is so powerful it will kill mold but a little will give you a healthy dose of vitamin d! I try to get a little sun every day and always remember my hat and my spf! Surella > > > > Its not so much Vit D but Vit D3 that is needed to help immune system.
