Guest guest
Blimey Steph. Poor Tom. Its so so hard for the non verbal kids when they can't tell you whats wrong and whats hurting. I would go to casualty, yes because you just don't know. If everything is checked and ok then I guess you know it could be the die off/reaction from Liverlife. At least you would know one way or the other. If you haven't gone yet you could phone in advance to let them know what to expect which may help Tom and you when you get there. Good luck and really hope he feels himself again soon. Guest guest
thanks chaps, that was really scary and god knows, I've seen enough meltdowns. We went to casualty and they were terrific. ruled out appendicitis which is my worst fear and offered to keep him in for observation. Junior doctor immediately thought it was overflow and that we should do an enema either there or at home and come back. They were actually very good - ruled out anything life threatening and told us to come back if he didn't (with help) right himself in 12 hours or so. Which he hasn't exactly but he has had a good night's sleep. Very glad we took him in. The doc spoke to Tom - like he a ten year old. Conseuqently Tom responded like a ten year old, did everything asked of him although weeing into a pulp dish was beyond him. Doctor was scandalised that we didn't really have a proper diagnosis about the bowel disorder - kept revisiting it. Sadly I was too tired to do much of a spiel by this point but I did tell him it was rife. anyhow, thanks for the help yesterday, I really appreciated it!!! and hopefully we'll resolve things a bit better today. One thing occurs is that at Christmas Tom spends a fair amount of time curled up on the sofa whilst adoring adults bring him totally on diet food. But he's losing that running about bit that helps keep things moving. So I'll try and prise him off the sofa today and hope for the best. He decorated a room late last night - not a colour I@d have chosen frankly but we were so relieved that we barely noticed. Comes to something when you're celebrating having to boil wash three beds worth of duvets. :-) > > > > SHould we just take him to casualty? > > > > he's like a wild animal - no idea what we'd say to them but this isn't > > right. > > > > is there anything else anyone can think of? > > >
Guest guest
Dear Steph, I'm glad things have improved. I did wonder whether he was getting enough exercise. Henry is on the go a lot - indoor rebounder, trampoline outside, swing - and I think this helps him. he still is constipated, though. One thing that is helping is daily bisocodyl suppositories, as he is retentive and dislikes pooing, but with the suppository every day he nearly always produces a log afterwards, but of course he's still backed up. Is Tom OK about pooing or is ithe problem inflammation? Guest guest
Oh Sweetheart, we have been thinking about you too. I am so glad you went to the Hospital and that things are a bit better. The bedding sounds a nightmare but if things werent moving then its probably a fairly welcome sight! I do hope he continues to pick up and I do think you are right the lack of exercise is a big issue at this time of year. If you have a trampoline then have a bounce today, if he can cope with that. If not a good old tramp thru the fields (mmm not sure if theres many fields in downtown where you are!!). If not take him to DFS to look at all the sofas on sale (not sure you have DFS either!). Lots of hot baths and gently massaging next to this ileo-caecal valve on his side might be useful too. If he could cope boiling up some dried fruits or plums, figs whatever and drinking the juice is a good old laxative. If they have given you movicol thats about the best really to move things along here, not my favourite but we find that and oxypowder about as good as it gets. (I seem to remember he doesnt do well on oxypowder??) Thats all my words of wisdom used up! Did they x-ray him? So glad you found a doc that was sympathetic. And for you a huge glass of something highly alcoholic to be planned for later. Hugs from the Highlands Caz xx
