Hi Simone,

First, you really should be concentrating on getting your Ferritin level

boosted. Ferritin is your stored iron, and if this is low, you get all

the symptoms of hypothyroidism, and it can actually cause

hypothyroidism. You may be feeling you are hypothyroid because of your

low level. Ask your GP to give you a trial of Ferrous Sulphate to build

up your iron level, and if he refuses because he thinks your level is

fine, then you can buy this at your local Chemist. You need 200 mgs

daily to start with, and if you can tolerate it OK, then build it up to

another 200 mgs. To stop you becoming constipated and to help you

absorbe the iron, you also need to take high doses of Vitamin C. Take

1000 mgs with each Ferrous Sulphate you take. Having low ferritin is a

cause of hair loss too, and it seems to be pointing to this problem as

being the cause of your symptoms.

Many people think that low ferritin means that you are anaemic, it

doesn't. Low ferritin is stored iron, if it is low too long, your body

is unable to cope without it and this is what causes the anaemia.

I know you are confused and frustrated, and it will take some time to

get your ferritin level to rise, but please be patient. Go to our Files,

look up the one on low ferritin and eat plenty of the foods that are

rich in iron. Plenty of red meat and other goodies. You do not need to

be a vegetarian right now ;o).

I wouldn't go for the Armour just yet, as

Hi simone,

Before taking the huge step of trying thyroid meds I'd look to

getting the Iron a bit higher- low iron can cause tiredness. I know not

everybody has all the symptoms but weight gain and heavy periods are very

common

Hi,

I wasn't here when you did that, but I've found a lot of useful information

including accurate medical terminology and explanations at the Web site of

the Mayo clinic, a nationally recognized institution. Let me see if I can

find the primary link to their material about heart ailments. if you examine

the links and the ext on that page, you can find your way to a lot of

helpful and accurate information. if what you see on this page doesn't seem

like what you're looking for at first, just click on links that look

interesting and you'll find yourself on many informative pages of the site.

The link of the heart failure page is:

http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/heart-failure/DS00061

Hi all,

When I first found this site I believe I found a list of definitions for

various terms used in relation to our conditions, but I can't find it again.

Does anyone know where it is?

Thanks.

Teri

I have been out of touch for a while ,   I have had a lung infection for a

little over a month.  How are you all doing ??   I first got one when I went to

the laundry mat.  But not in my lungs, then a second at the laundry mat.  Then

the third hit my sinuses and my lungs. Got fever and all.  First lung infection

after the lung diseases.

 God Bless !!
