Guest guest
Las Vegas Now HasTrue Green Wedding and Event Services Las Vegas Hotels are now attempting to attract visitorsunder the guise of being green and environmentally friendly. TheNational Toxic Encephalopathy Foundation (NTEF) applauds their marketingcampaigns, but, do not endorse these so called green properties for being trulygreen. In their concerted efforts toappeal to green visitors they use the term green, but, they do not trulyexemplify green overall. Hotels areactually discrediting their green marketing claims, especially those propertiesthat permeate the indoor environments with ‘designer’ scents throughout theirHVAC systems. Las Vegas has a myriad of wedding options but, there are nogreen, chemical and fragrance free wedding or event services. The NTEF has now expanded their services to assist visitorsin creating safer, non-chemically laden functions. With all the coverage on thehealth risks associated with fragrances, chemicals, Las Vegas now has optionsfor green minded visitors, conferences and wedding options. Thereare no consultants, lodgings or businesses in County, Nevada that arequalified to implement true green, environmentally and chemically neutralweddings, services or events. No matter how many businesses extol green andenvironmental awareness, they still are what the NTEF’s considers problematic, with asthma exacerbation health concerns, resulting from their air fresheningsystems. The NTEF has spent extended time in the venues that werecommend to those desirous of a green function. We feel that these venues would be safer alternatives for thosewho are adversely affected by fragrances, chemicals or those who prefer toenjoy functions that are not reminiscent of fragrance emporiums. Our expertsand consultants are highly regarded by their colleagues and have toured thevenues we recommend. TheAmerican Lung Association advises those with asthma to avoid odor-maskingchemicals or " air-freshening " devices, products that give off odors, gases or particles, such as sprays, perfumes or fragrances. A2004 study showed that 29.7% of those with asthma said air fresheners causedbreathing difficulties and 37.2% found scented products irritating. AmericanAssociation of Poison Control Centers documented 14,000+ calls involving airfreshener exposure in 2005 and 2,500+ exposures resulted in injuries of sometype. In a 1997 study, emissions of " air fresheners at severalconcentrations (including concentrations to which many individuals are actuallyexposed) caused increases in sensory and pulmonary irritation, decreases inairflow velocity, and abnormalities of behavior measured by the functionalobservational battery scoreâ€. Almost 25 years ago the respiratory effects of fragranceswere identified, " Effects of Odors on Asthma " in the Journal of theAmerican Medical Association (Shim, Chang, M.D., , M. Henry, Jr., " Effects of Odors on Asthma. " The American Journal of Medicine,Volume 80, January 1986, pp. 18-22) which indicated that an alarming 72% ofasthmatic attacks are triggered by perfume and cologne. Recently, in Detroit, a city employee was awarded $100,000in Federal Court over ADA violations for a fragrance accommodation issue. Along with the State of California finingUnilever $1.3 million dollars for air pollution related to Axe Body Spray. For a healthier function and visit to Las Vegas, letthe NTEF make your event uneventful.
