Guest guest
Carl, are _o_ sa_ing that if something smells mold_, it wo_ld be growing mold? M_ cat's coat smelled mold_ when I p_t m_ nose _p to it when I had problem b_t his coat was not growing mold. I don't get this. Person wanted to know if car w_s r_ined now that she/he had p_t something from the ho_se into it. The correct answer wo_ld certainl_ be " it depends " at the ver_ worst. > > > > I agree with this post except that person was referring to 'cross contamination' of vehicle, rather than a car that is moldy for it's own reasons. For cross contamination, method described is reasonable. Different situation, different solution. People shouldn't feel if they put something from a moldy home in their car, the car is ruined. That might be the case for severe reactors certainly but not the usual case. This was a question of cross contamination. Maybe another car would be great if you can afford that. Buying a new used car, you can just end up with someone else's mold problem that they didn't know about. So many people are clueless about this and live in contaminated houses themselves and don't know it.
Guest guest
Yes, it depends. What I was saying is that quick conclusions without an attempt to reasonably consider other possibilities usually leads to wrong assumptions and wrong actions. Assumptions based on beliefs which lack any basis in the facts which are known usually lead to the same frustration and continuing harm. Identification of odors and smells is rarely definitive. If mold smells are still in your nose and in your immediate memory then many things will " smell " like mold. I once had clients who all agreed that there was a " odor " of some sort in the bedroom and all agreed it should be removed. One insisted it was mold. Another said formaldehyde. And the third said hand lotion. Go figure! Guest guest
I think from my own experience, and I did cross contaminate my car, that the smell would not be the smell of mold growth but the smell of a earthy, dirt smell. and thats more about actually putting stuff in your car from your WDB that has dry mold dust that than viberates off of the objects while in your car. thats how I cross contaminated my car. it didn't smell anything like mold that was growing, to tottally different smells. problem was that I couldn't tolerate my car and couldn't tolerate the cleaners or much of anything else that might be used to try cleaning it. I agree that many do mistake other smells in cars that cause reaction to be mold. I cant tolerate armorall or anything like that, or new car smell, or those little scented things people usually have stuff away somewhere in their car or hanging from their review mirrors to hide other smells. but I have gotten in a car and knew immediatly that their was mold growth, usually from a drink or something haveing been spilt on the carpet, or a wet beach towel or something like that being left in the car. > > Carl, are _o_ sa_ing that if something smells mold_, it wo_ld be growing mold?
