Whoa!  While I agonize with you about your reactions, I feel a bit reassured

that I am not the only one who suspects seemingly benign objects.  I can feel

my

heart race when I turn on my laptop.  Has anyone ever tried one of those

computers that are supposed to be " safer " for folks who react to EMF.  (Explain

the acronym, please?)

I drove in my car yesterday and got so sick and cranky, I couldn't believe it.

It smelled weird.  Now, this is a car I've driven for years with no problems.

Nothing new in the car.  MMMM.  Any thoughts?  I'm scared to drive now.

Gratitude to others for sharing...

Subject: [] For me-it's not always mold

I don't what weakened me into illness - mold, pesticides, herbicides, dental

work, or art supplies. All are on my avoidance list. Yesterday I donned a mask &

gloves to remove rust from my kitchen sink while it was outside. The stuff

hardly had a smell. Plywood went up in my kitchen & the sink went in & ...I

spent the night in my vehicle. I had severe neck pain in the kitchen & after not

eating much I just had to make something - which was disaster after disaster I

was in such a fog. I then reacted to the living room - it contained nothing new

except a can of screws.. which I put outside. I could SEE the air, especially in

the kitchen- happened when a plumbing vent clogged in another place too & when I

first got MCS & turned on the computer. It had to be the wood or the sink. I

sealed the sink & got slightly better. This morning I asked my contractor to

take the sink out again before he went to work. I spent the day alternating

spraying & wiping it with vodka, vinegar & Bi-O-Kleen Bac Out. About 2 quarts of

vodka in a mist bottle above it & a pint of vinegar in a trigger point sprayer

it's back in the house & much better. This is the second time it's been out -

the first time I hosed it down (it's metal) with Bi-O-Kleen All Purpose & still

couldn't get the fragrance out. When I first got sick I felt like I was going to

black out on a cell phone or cordless phone. After long exposure to a neighbors

chemical logs in their fireplace I was so EMF'd I couldn't talk on a landline or

keep my stereo plugged in even. I reacted to the bedroom with hyperness - the

electric box outside was against the bedroom wall. A friend gets piercing

headaches from EMF's - being on the phone or watching a movie on TV... & then

severe depression. Another feels her heart will give out one day from EMF's.

I don't know how much all this applies to any of you trying to pinpoint what

(where is the mold) in your house is making you sick. For me it can be as simple

as a new set of plastic hangers, a new pad of paper or the sun shining on an OLD

plastic item.

There are toxic things all over that have the capability of making me sick but

don't always. Like VOC's. Sometimes I bring home a plastic bag that reeks of

VOC's so badly that I have to throw the bag out before I get to the car.

Sometimes not. Seemingly benign is a really good phrase-to the rest of the world

most things are benign, aren't they? Or EMF's-I can't hold a cell phone to my

ear without getting nauseous but so far my laptop is ok. Everybody else seems to

be able to find a car without mold in the ac except me.

As far as I can tell, the whole world is pretty toxic for me-I live in fear from

day to day.

Mine smells weird when it bakes in the sun. I'm sleeoing in it lately & want it

ti get sun so I put nylon fabric on the opened windows held on with the magnet

that comes on a roll & some strong one - no gaps for bugs to get in. Sometimes

mice get under the hood so that's another thing you could be smelling. Or maybe

you were exposed to something else & are temporarily sensitive to other things.

That happens to me. I was exposed to rust cleaner & temporarily do not tolerate

the floor finish in my living room. It could also be a repair issue - burning

rubber smell for instance. You could call Car Talk on Sat morning :-) ! If I

think of anything else it might be I'll let you know

Thanks for the ideas; normally I park it in our underground parking lot, and for

the past week, I've been parking outside.  Never thought about the sun

component.  Again, it's lovely having so many brains available to help sort

things out.  Sally
