Hi Flipjess, I know what you are going through in

a way because all of my os's thought I had RSD

because of some real intense pain that never went away. I

didnt have the other symtoms like the color changes and

temperature sensitivity and things like that. I went to 4 os

who all said I had it. I finally went for a

sympathetic nerve block and it did nothing for my knee. I

found a really good os who said I needed my knee shaved

down. He did the surgery in july, and while I am still

in a lot of pain, it is better. I am still on

crutches but the pain isnt as bad. He said the patella was

like mush, nice image huh? anyways he also found out

the lateral release wasnt completly successful and I

still have a tracking problem. I had 1 block done, it

wasnt bad. I wish you a lot of luck with this, from

what my friends have told me, who have it, its no tea

party. Good luck and a fast recovery.

I had the first block done on Thursday. It wasnt'

too bad. The sedation made me very tired, I slept all

day. The temperature in my left foot rose extremely

fast. The doctor seemed to think that this was a good

thing. I can bend my knee a little bit more, I think. I

need to get one of those measuring devices that my os

uses. Does anyone know where I could get one. All

through therapy I though I was bending much more than I

acutually was, so I can't really depend on my measurments.

I just don't really understand why I got this.

Neither does any of the doctors. Unfortunatley, I do have

the shooting pain and hypersensitivity in my left

leg. I just don't know what I am going to do if this

doesn't clear up. My right knee was suppose to get done

in January. I have to have my left one cleaned up

after some more of the swelling goes away, which means

that January is pretty much out of the question. I

don't know how much more of this I can

take.

Jessy

,,,

I have one patient with RSD of the rt foot. Started by a fracture,, she

also loss a boy in an auto accident in the same time frame. I adjusted

full spine, and the extremity.. She felt the ankle foot adjustments was

what turned it around.. That was twenty years ago,, saw her a few weeks

ago and is doing well. But the first thing she asked for was a foot and

ankle adjustment. I use a unusual adjustment that I learned from Dick

Versendaal DC. I think you know that one.. With the patient standing and

the knee flexed ninety degrees,,I hold the heel in one hand and ext the

foot.. with my other hand on the distal end of the metatarsals. Call me

if you wish.. Cell

503.358/7953 I will have it on at eight a.m. for one hour in the morning

and then back on at noon.

I have a current new patient in with trauma from a recent auto

accident.. In 1999 she had her foot and ankle hurt and follow with an

amputation. Dx with RDS now.

Hi ,

RSD or Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) as it has been renamed for about 10

years, is a terribly difficult condition to treat, in my opinion. Some relief

can be had from effective chiropractic care, but more profound relief can be

found in sympathetic blocks and sympathomimectomy.

Hi Rogene,

I researched this more, found a site for RSD, and this is what I

found in Colorado. My chiro gave me the name of a doc in Boulder. I

will call and find out the score and the statistics on helping this problem.

This one is in Littleton, I have emailed and not gotten a response.

Lynda . . .

I found this with a search for "Prolothearpy" . . .

Sounds interesting . . . http://www.prolotherapy.com/prolodefine.htm

You're so fortunate to find a practioner near you!..

I can't believe that anything that comes on so quickly from a relatively minor injury can't be reversed - The way the first page I found said!

Rogene

This is encouraging news Lynda. I hope you hear from them soon and that their cost is reasonable. Lynn

Rogene,

The Orthopod confirmed the RSD. Wants me to keep moving the foot, do

PT, keep it flexible and watch for spreading up the leg. I think I

want more than that, so am going to do other things. I found a site

that said Hyperbarics help RSD, and my friend has a

Hyperbaric business, in CA, so I would have to travel, but it may

become an option. Looking into prolotherapy to help the ligaments

heal so the nerve can heal, and looking at other things also.

Lynda,

We'll keep praying you find the answer to your pain.

It's hard to understand how your broken foot could progress to this kind of pain! . . . and for your son to have it too.

I'm sure there's an answer for you - but I'm betting you'll have to find a doctor who thinks out of the box! . . .

BTW, something I found interesting (thinking of Oxygen Chambers) . . . I had a colonoscopy Thursday. . . They had me hooked up to a device that measured my blood oxygen levels. . . They were pretty good, but since I had nothing else to do, I wanted to see if I could make it go up. . . . .I tried the stomach breathing that they recommended to PH at Mercola's clinic . . . Within a matter of minutes, my oxygen level went to 100 and stayed there. . . . I'm thinking this could help anyone struggling with any type of illness.. . Oxygen rich blood is a serious disease fighter!

Hugs,

Rogene

Lynda,

You're definitely in my prayers! My son's occupational therapist raves

about the benefits of hyperbarics...so much so that she's buying a

chamber. You've come so far and you can this. Everything will work

out fine! Love, PH

RSD

I am heading for Boulder tomorrow, have to see a doctor who works with hyperbarics and get a prescription for hyperbarics to try to stop the RSD in my foot. It takes about 60 treatments, $6000 or more, don't know where I will get that, but it seems my best hope to stop this. They start out pretty heavy, sometimes two treatments a day. I am trying to figure out the money situation. So, you all, pray this is what works for me. I sure don't want to be in the situation my son is in with this horrible condition. His life is misery.Lynda

Wow Lynda! . . . I hate to see you have to spend so much money! As well as so much time!

Is there any chance Medicare will pick up some of the cost? . . . Or they will discount it because you're private pay? . . It seems like they jack the price up for private pay . . . It would be worth asking if they will charge you the rate they charge insurance companies!

Isn't December the month you can change Medicare supplemental policies? .. . Are there any companies available that cover HBOT?

Has your foot shown any improvement at all?

Hugs and prayers,

Rogene

I am so sorry. I guess when there is a will there is a way. I never thought in a million years I would be able to afford explant. I guess I really wasn't able to actually "afford" it - I am still paying credit card debt. But I did what I had to do.

I feel so bad you have to deal with this. Lynn

Rogene,

No, Medicare will not pay a dime. Already

asked. I am on my own. It is a cutting edge

treatment, and not yet approved by insurance. Wouldn't you know????

My foot is starting to get worse, little by little. Have to do something.

Thanks, Lynn

Sometimes I just feel like crying. It is so much

to deal with after the cancer, chemo, implant

illness and divorce. I thought I had done my

time with illness and problems, but guess not. I

just have to hang in there and do it.

Lynda,

I am so sorry to hear your foot is getting worse!! Why? Is it

circulation issues, or what?

Patty,

Research Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy and it will give you the whole

scoop. Nasty condition. A nerve was damaged when I twisted my ankle

and broke my foot.

Oh Lynda,

That's not good! HBOT should hopefully help, but it is sooooo

expensive. I'm sorry you are dealing with this now. The HBOT should

be good for you all around.

Patty,

Yes, I am sure it is good all around, and pray that it helps the

RSD. I probably start today, and the charge card is what I have to use.

Nan,

Started hyperbarics today, expensive, pray it works. I have to drive

an hour each way to get this done. Hope it doesn't snow much.

I have a silicone survivors friend who swears it saved her life and

helped her sick kids. Now she owns one and operates a business with

hyperbarics.

Love,
