My sister had either mice or roaches getting into her high rise apt through the

bathroom vanity.  I can't remember what you call the 'thing', but it is a

round, ? steel  or copper pad (shaped like a Brillo pad I think).  She put

them in the spaces and no problem after that. 

You could use that steel pad and then cover with the aluminum.

No, not air tight.  I figure that would deter the mice, foil take care of the

air getting through.  Have you talked to anyone in a hardware store-- they

might have a good suggstion too and whether or not my idea would work.  I think

it is called a steel pad, was copper in color.  Shucks, the older I get, the

more I forget.

Would the brillo " thing " be air tight? If the expanding foam " crackled " with the

heat, I imagine it wouldn't be air tight. Perhaps I should try the aluminum

foil.
