Guest guest
We have a large SaniDry from Basement Systems that does an excellent job!!! We are in hot and humid land and our house humidity is always below 40.It has a 2 " filter and a foam one on top of that. Not cheap however...it is in our basement and the hose runs into our sealed sump pump. I think Honeywell and Holmes make good ones and Sears. I am housebound because of illness. Last summer when I had my central a/c checked, the technician failed to hook up a hose properly, and water drained into the closet where the central unit stays. I found mold and have shut the system down. At the moment I have one 5000 BTU window a/c unit. We are having a history making hot summer.....it was 104 in the shade on my porch a few minutes ago, and the humidity in the house is 74%. I need to buy some dehumidifiers. I think several smaller ones would be best. Does anybody have a brand and model they like? Josie
Guest guest
Where do you live? Climate will make a difference on whether a dehumidifier will be needed or effective. 104 in Florida may need one but 104 in Phoenix won't. Also, how is the 74% being measured? Electronic device or a small one that looks like an oven or fridge thermometer? If the latter, they show high humidity (incorrectly) when they are warm from the air. One client had one showing 80% RH when the local weather and my electronic hygrometer showed under 20%. I'd hate for you to spend money on something that won't help. Also, for the cost of several dehumidifiers you could get another window a/c unit. Carl Grimes Healthy Habitats LLC ----- I am housebound because of illness. Guest guest
Don't waste your money on several small ones, get one really good one, a Sante Fe is one I bought. You need one with a good filter on it also or it will get moldy itself. There is another brand that is similar. Can't remember the name right off the top. Ultraaire is made by same people who make Sante Fe. There is one that is nice looking especially to put out in room. The other are utilitarian looking, like a piece that would go in basement. --- In , PickPinkFlowers <haggisisscotsfood@...> wrote: > > I am housebound because of illness.
